Hi folks,
I've lost about 30 pounds over the last year, mainly by a combination of
sensible (oh, somewhat) eating and excersize. However, I've plateaued and
I have about 20-25 pounds to get to my goal weight. The extra weight I
have now, I've had since 15 years ago and I know old weight comes off
slower than new weight (in my experience).

So, I was considering joining WW. Have others got past this plateau
problem with this system?

many have got past the plateau, but even though i am struggling with the
last 25 pounds, what i like about it is that i am not regaining what i have
lost, so for that alone ww is a winning way to eat for me, welcome to the
group and good luck, Lee

That's a big part of it, too. I've lost 50 pounds three times in my life
and when I lose the next 20, I want to keep it off.

Welcome, Rick! WW works, and might help you get past this plateau.
Wishing you all the best,

I've heard this is basically a popular myth that coincides with reality.

How long you've had the weight has nothing to do with how difficult it is
to get rid of (although, it is a crucial factor in wether you end up with
loose skin)
However...
People do aquire and lose weight in a consistant order. If you got a fat
stomach first, then fat thighs, then fat arms.... You'll lose weight in the
reverse order (first the arms, then the thighs and then the stomach)

But, here's the "coincides with reality" part....
Weightloss tends to start quick, then slows down. There's different theories
(first few kilograms, very quickly lost, are water... People get less strict
in their diets... The body lowers it's metabolism... develops a resistance
to any diet pills.... etc.)

So, yes, you will find the next few pounds harder to get rid of, but it has
absolutely nothing to do with how long those pounds have been there.

I think I've had some "indescretions" along the way as well! I have hit
a plateau before at about 12 pounds lighter than I am now, when I was
working out regularly, lifing, swimming, eating right, etc.

I'll just keep plugging, maybe see if I can add something to my exercise
routine as well.
