Default A little courage and some advice, please

On Saturday, I have an afternoon date. Need I say I'm all a-twitter?
Nervous, excited, anxious, thrilled, terrified, hopeful, self-conscious,
confident are only a few of the feelings that kept me awake last night.
It's my first date with a man in two years, and my second date with a man
in 12 years. It's probably only the fourth date in my life (my ex-H and
didn't really date, we just "hung out"). LOL

Anyway, I'm very aware of every pound I weigh over my WW goal. And I
really don't know what to wear on Saturday for two reasons. Here's where I
could use some advice. How do you dress for a date at 1 p.m. Saturday for
coffee at the cafe in an art museum where, after coffee, we'll be viewing
an exhibit of the St. John's Bible? I'm a Lands' End /REI/LL Bean kind of
person. I don't think it's possible for me to overdress for any occasion,
but I don't want to be underdressed for this one. None of my clothes from
last summer fit me...

So far, the weight's not melting off me this week like it did last week.
Lesanne, if you're reading, now's your chance to catch up! Although with
all the emotions going on, my stomach aches may result in several whooshes
this week, if you know what I mean!

I'm not very good in the 'what to wear" department. I think I belong on the
"what not to wear show" but my suggestion would be a nice pair of slacks
(taylored or at least twill) plus a top or sweater set. Not too fancy but
not too casual. What's your weather these days? A nice pair of capris,
sandals and a sweater come to mind if the weather is right.

Sat May 21 Partly Cloudy
75°/61° 20% chance of precip

The capris/sandals/sweater combo sounds nice. Thanks. I'm going to go
window shopping during lunch today.

Add a few accessories to make it look like you are a bit more dressed up
than casual such as a pretty pair of earrings and a bracelet. Shoes
make a difference too. Tennis shoes and sport sandals say dressed down
but with the same outfit flats or pretty sandals say more dressed up.

Dress tidy but comfortable. Lands' End tidy trousers, a nice shirt,
maybe a scarf at the neck... Comfy shoes are a must! If you want a
little dressier, something like the LE linen sleeveless linen top and
matching skirt would look good. I'd probably go for black, with a
bright jacket or cardigan if it's too cool for bare arms. I'm a LE
Medium at present, and that would suit that sort of size or cuddlier
quite well.

I put a pound and a half ON last week, so don't worry!

Have a nice date, whatever you wear.

Thanks Brenda. I'll try to remember your advice to relax so I can have fun.
I'm really looking forward to the art exhibit. Several people from my work
have gone to see it and I've been wanting to go too. So no matter how the
date turns out, the day won't be a loss.

Thanks Kate for the outfit suggestions. I went to Coldwater Creek last
night and selected an outfit that my girlfriends here at work have said is
perfect for an afternoon date at the arts institute. Black stretch twill
pants (full-length) with embroidered dots in bright colors such as apple
green, hot pink, red, turquoise, grass green, peach, butter yellow; a
black travel knit sleeveless top; an apple green big shirt; and a darker
apple green, long, ladder knit shawl-type scarf. I already had shoes at
home that I can wear: black, open-toed flats. I'll keep my jewelry very
simple.

I can't imagine the situation for which I would bare my arms, regardless
of the temperature. They've never been my best feature and as I age, they
only get only waddly. I've tried capris, but my calves are just think
enough and I'm just short enough that I've not had any luck finding a pair
that doesn't make me look either like a clown or a 2 feet shorter than I
am.

I'll feel comfortable and confident in the clothes I bought, which is the
whole idea!
