I'm back
Hi, guys. About three years ago, I went on LC and dropped from 265 to 230
and dropped my LC/HC total about 40 points (with LC also becoming a larger percentage). In the 2.5 years since then, by just watching carbs without counting, I've gained 7 pounds, with the thought in the back of my mind that at some point, I'd like to go it again and get to 200. My girlfriend now wants to join the LC lifestyle to drop about 30 pounds by March, I'm starting her on Induction. In the mean time, I figured I might as well do it again and try to get to my "fighting weight" of 200. So...this morning, I went looking for the bookmark to the web site that I'd used for caarb counting and I cannot find it. I don't even remember the name, but I remember that a couple of years ago, it was real popular and I used it alot. I do remember that I would enter everything I'd eaten after each meal and it told me how many carbs I'd consumed to that point. I also remember that when anyone asked for a recommendation for a carb counting site, this one was way the most popular in this forum. Does any of this make sense? Anyway...let the games begin. On further searching, I found it...Fitday.
Question...I see that they now have downloadable software for $19.95. Does anyone use it? is it that much better than the web site? Thanks So...this morning, I went looking for the bookmark to the web site that I'd used for caarb counting and I cannot find it. I do, I prefer having the database locally, if you can't get to the website
for some reason it is very inconvenient. I understand it is more customizable, too, though I only used the website for about one day so don't have a good basis for comparison. I like the download. I would have paid much more for software like this.
You have to work with it for a week or two to get used to how food data is entered, and such. Otherwise, my only complaint is that they have not upgraded the software and the food database. I never used to website system, so I can't compare them. "jposada" wrote in message ... On further searching, I found it...Fitday. If you're going to pay for diet software, I'd suggest you try the shareware package LifeForm (http://www.lifefitnes.com) instead of Fitday. It's easier to use and has a lot more good nutritional information included in its database. I found it invaluable when I was in the weight loss phase of my low carb diet. -- --Jenny Type 2 diabetes since 1998. It should be www.lifeform.com for the software . |

The big advantage I see is that with the downloadable version you can combine various ingredients to make recipes. So when I make crawfish etoufee, I don't have to add in the ingredients manually, or manually add them together to get a total and enter that. I used the Web version for a few months and then would have switched over, but it turns out there's no way to get the data from the Web version into the software version. So I'd recommend springing for the software version right away and using that. |
