Default Has anyone heard about Cohen Lifestyle clinic, I have a question if you have

Hi Guys,

has anyone ever heard of the Cohen Lifestyle clinics and Dr Cohens diet?

I've been on the diet for approximately 6 weeks, and have had some great
results 11.6kg (21.78lbs) in 4 weeks.

I was hoping there might be someone out there with some experience or
information on the eating plan.

Currntly I'm STARVING at night, I've tried coffee, water, walking ... I
can't seem to kick this insane hunger at night.

Any suggestions and guys I'd owe you!

Cryss

Starting 306.9lbs/139.5kg
Current 285.1lbs/129.6kg
Goal 136.4lbs/62kg

I had never heard of them but did a search and found the website. I
also found some nice recipes on the site - thanksg

Congratulations on your success to date. I have no idea what your
current eating plan is but could you save a few of your allowed
calories for later in the evening when you're experiencing the extreme
hunger?

What I do when I am hungry is...EAT!

I usually balance my calories so that I have a decent breakfast, which takes
me to lunch.

I usually have a very light lunch, because I am usually busy during the day
and have less time to worry about feeling hungry.

Around 3-5 I often get in a snack mood, so I have a few hundred calories of
some snacks like rice crackers.

For dinner I try to make a large-but-low-calorie big bowl of something. And
I make sure to leave 400-500 calories for evening snacking on edamame, fruit
and popcorn. So I basically snack a LOT in the evenings, but I still
averaged less than 1500 calories/day this past week without feeling hungry.

Thanks Doug,

however it's is a little more difficult than "just EAT".

the plan I'm on is really strict, I have a specific allowance of food (I'm
saving my biggest allowance for the evening meal), I can have only two
pieces of fruit a day (specific types) and I can have 5 Vita Wheats (small
wheat based crackers) those I can only have 2 at a time and mustn't eat more
than those two in a 2.5 hr period. My main meals of which I have 3 must be 5
hours apart.

So although I think in a normal situation your suggestions would get me over
my hurdle, I was hoping for some suggestion that didn't include eating, it's
more psychological for me, maybe I'm not really hungry (although it feels
like it) maybe I'm just craving something to do.

Thanks to those who responded, I'll maybe try to eat my bigger meal (bigger
by 10grams!!! hold on to your hats I say!)

I'll keep reading the threads and see if anyone has an epiphany about
managing boredom/hunger.

yeah some of the recipes are handy, soemthings you wouldn't think about
using to cook with.

I kinda eluded to the eating plan in my reply to Doug, it's insanely strict,
I don't think I realised until I'd paid my money and gotten my plan how had
it was going to be.

the strictness removes any chance of me moving calories around (it's a dark
science!)

I'll keep the group posted as to my progress.

thanks again, enjoy the recipes.

If it is boredom you might find a hobby or something else that holds
your interest and keeps your mind off food.

I love doing research on bike trails I want to ride in other states. I
often find I've spent a couple hours browsing through the information
and haven't given food a thought. I can do the same when I'm doing a
sewing project, scrap booking or any activity that involves keeping the
hands and mind busy. Do you have such a hobby?

Good luck in finding an answer to your problem. Are the calories
extremely low on this plan?

Hi Cryss, are you australian too?
I know someone who has done cohens, they lost a huge amount of weight, but
it required a huge reduction in calories. you must be very committed. I know
she had lots of problems with hunger as well. All i can suggest is making up
a list of things you can do when ur not hungry, for the times when you re
hungry and bored. i think the clue is to do things that are mutually
exclusive. Ie something you do which means you cant eat. ring someone on the
phone. brush your teeth. Declutter ur house, think of all sorts of
activities you can do when you feel the need to eat. most of all. sit down
and get a journal and write down why you want to eat. do you feel physically
hungry, or are you just bored, and wanting a new taste sensation to occupy
your mind. its mind games, you have to sit with ur feelings and work out
what it is you really want. and will eating that chocolate biscuit or
whatever it is really help you. one thing to write down however specific you
have to be, is how you will feel five minutes after eating what you want.
the more real you make it in your mind, the more determined you might end up
being.

good luck

hi Beverly,

the hobby sounds like a plan, I walk my dogs but sometimes I just want to
relax.

the calories on this are really low, some days I don't even get over 1000,
and that is with all my allowances, i.e. the 2 pieces of fruit and the 5
crackers.

they say no exercise, most likely because you will burn off so much energy
and have no food to compensate.

I'll keep in touch, thank you for the kind word of encouragement

wow, thanks so much!

this is really insightful.

Yes I'm in Australia, started this a few weeks ago, I would be interested to
know how your friend went, and if she ever wandered off. You would know how
insanely strict it is, it is virtually impossible to eat anything other than
what you have prepared yourself.

Did your friend keep off her weight and do you know how much she lost in
what time? sorry about the questions, it's just that they kind of keep you
away from others on the diet, don't like you talking for some reason, maybe
because you will compare your "exclusive" eating plan and realise it is
identical!

Anyway as you can see, it's working I'll see how I am tracking after my
second months weigh in!
