Default No resolutions?

I would have thought that, by now, we'd have at least a hundred new members
to this group who, with good intentions, would remain members in good
standing until at least Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Really, though, do you see nyd as an opportunity to renew your weight loss
vows?

I personally like the concept of new year resolutions, and have not
yet decided what mine should be. Something along the lines of strength
training no less than 4x per week, and not gaining weight, but I have
not yet decided on specifics.

I always resolve to get off Internet groups but just like Woody Allen's
uncle who thinks he's a chicken I continue to remain as someone may
need the eggs!

I like to establish some resolutions -- really more like goals -- each
new year (and in fact I posted some a few weeks ago in response to a
post from Ignoramus). This year my weight-loss specific goal is to
continue to maintain my loss. I have some other goals related to
fitness -- like a bodyweight bench (extremely close now) and a single
pull-up (less so), and entering some competitions. I need to
formulate some kind of goal related to running, too, I think. (I also
have some that aren't particularly germane to this list.)

Naw, I don't bother with resolutions. If I want to change something in
my life I do it when I want, not when society says I should. I'm a
rebel.

Not for me personally. Not this year anyway. I've done new year's
resolutions before. I never had success with any of them. It only worked
for me when *I* was ready to make the commitment, not because of the

I'm sure there will be more posts from people trying to maintain their diet
some time next week.

I'm absolutely with you on this Phil. January 1 is the time of year
I'm least likely to resolve to do anything. The best results for me
come when I'm ready, as you say.

New Year must be the worst time of year to join a gym. We go swimming
much of the year, and it's always amusing to notice how busy the pool
suddenly gets for the first few weeks of January, and then most of
these people disappear and it's back to the regulars.

I gave up even trying to get off usenet groups...

Quitting usenet newsgroups -- that's a good one.

well. for me, the easy way out is to stop making resolutions after so
many failed ones before. But I have refrained from making resolutions in
the past, but i noticed that when i stop thinking big, oftentimes i stop
working at all.

I'm enjoying this diet so far. I love starting on my NY-Resolution in
Thanksgiving. This is somehting I have not tried before--gettting a
headstart on my weightloss goals. and it does take the pressure off. At
least I'm not lamenting on New Years Eve about how an entire year passed
and all i have to show for it weightloss-wise is a net gain of 10 lbs.
Altho I only feel skinnier (not really tracking weight due to fear of
overstress) on mondays and wednesdays, I am happy with the effort. I
think as long as i keep track of my calories, I should be okay.
