Another thought on why I gained the weight back
I agree that salads lose their appeal when I'm freezing. :-) To combat the urge to
"fatten up for winter" (and it's quite a strong urge) I find that a variety of really yummy and great-smelling herbal or flavored black teas really help -- i.e. apple cinnamon, orange spice, "christmas" blends -- something that smells appealing and comforting. Another plus is that drinking it warms me up and helps get my water in for the day (since I'm not so enthusiastic about drinking cold water while I'm freezing. Hmmmm, I think I'll make a cup of Constant Comment right now. Also, hot steamed vegetables (cubes of zucchini for example) covered with your favorite (low sugar low salt) spaghetti sauce. Baked cauliflower (rub or spray outside with olive oil, season, and bake for about an hour -- (cook it uncovered for the last half hour and the outside gets all crispy and yummy). Just a few suggestions of what helps me! Mary 325-150-145 "That T Woman" wrote in message ... It was just about this time last year when I fell off the "wagon" and began my slide back to regain the weight I'd lost. I just realized that a big factor in that was the colder weather. The cold is making me extremely hungry. I'm still logging what I eat and even after I've reached my daily allocation of calories at which point I wasn't hungry when it was warm, I'm still hungry. So far I've been able to tough it out but it's so very hard. Hopefully I'll be able to overcome this by drinking a lot of non calorie hot tea and wrapping up in a blanket so I won't be so cold (and it's not that cold here in Lubbock.) Since my WOE is heavy on the green veggie salads, a change has to come right there. I want only hot food. Is anyone else suffering like this? Tonia |

Tonia The problem is that due to the growing lack of sufficient light and cold weather, we (or at least a lot of us) are designed to crave carbs and bulk up during the wintertime. Think bears and hibernation. I just eat more protein and fat and less carbs. I understand if you may not prefer this suggestion. |

I also have a recipe for curried cauliflower and some other very flavorful vegetable recipes that I'll be trying in lieu of the salads and raw veggies that sustained me in warmer weather. Till I can manage a low salt soup that has some actual flavor, (I suck at making soup) I'll try making these cooked veggie dishes for winter warmth and comfort. Jenn |

Only 35% of calories from carbs? That strikes me as pretty low. I am not questioning your diet choice, but I would not describe it as "moderate everything". Wouldn't that be more than 1/3 of their calories, with the rest coming from protein, fats and alcohol? My understanding is that the average American diet is 40% fat. Say 5% of calories come from alcohol... coming up with 35% calories from carbs and 20% from protein seems fairly reasonable (and believable) to me. Wendy |
