You know, I've not been having a good week. Weight loss wise I am
fine...about 10 pounds in 2 weeks (I know... a lot of water, but I stopped
taking Creatin for 1 week which is about 4-5 lbs right there. ) I've resumed
the Creatin, so I know I will see my weight stabilize, even if I am the best
ever dieter in the world, as I put back on the water weight. However, I am
not much of a meat eater and I can really see the difference with VS without
the creatin. I've also had a really bad week family wise and I am really,
really tense so that is probably why the following has me so aggravated!

I was at the local vitamin establishment getting this and that and a low
carb baking mix section caught my eye. I am always looking for ways to eat
bread (yum) with less impact. Now the nutritional info stated Serving Size:
2 TBLSP mix or 1 muffin prepared. I quickly perused the nutritional label
and it looked OK. 2 g fat 3 net carbs per muffin (5 total). I thought OK,
I'll give it a shot. So, I'm making these muffins right away because I want
to take them to the gym and use all my lovely friends and trainers there as
guinea pigs, and I keep thinking how in the world there can be 1/2 cup of
oil in them (prepared) and only 2 g fat per muffin. Well....turns out there
is a little asterisk next to the fat that states that is only the fat in the
mix. After doing some math, I calculate there are 11 grams per muffin
prepared. Now, I am perfectly willing to admit that I don't have the best
record of quickly reading things accurately (why I always come home with the
wrong variation of a product) but I still think that this was flat out
misleading. I've seen labels that will have two numbers side by side
indicating difference between mix VS prepared that alert you to huge
difference, but this was just hidden, in my opinion. Anyway, I am still
taking them to the gym...it's just the principal that has me mad. Elise PS
my daughter just came home and ate one not knowing they were low carb and
pronounced them good. I don't think I'll tell her they are low carb as that
will be the kiss of death to them. Oh yeah. I also snuck in high fiber,
organic no wheat pancake mix into the kids' pancakes this am and no one
noticed. I put only about 1/4 of the total in. I think next time, I will
try 50/50 and see if they notice that.

Congrats on the loss, Elsie. This is fantastic!

I know how irritating it is to have to pay real close attention to every
little thing on a label. I just wish they would be up-front about it and
disclose everything in regular type. Some are so confusing I just throw
them back on the shelf and go on. Those little asterisks will get us

I take a lot of vitamins on the advice of the gym nutritionist since I work
out so much and because my knees are so bad I take Glucosamine and
Chondritin (one pill) and a separate MSM.(only because the kind of joint
supplement that Lifetime Fitness sells does not have MSM in it). I also
take three amino acid supplements on the advice of Ahmed. These seemed to
really help. Yes, I know it's a handful of pills each morning and evening,
but I run everything by the nutritionist before I put it in my mouth. The
creatin I believe does help my strength and speed. I've read that not
everyone feels the benefit from creatin, but that those are people that
usually eat a lot of foods naturally high in creatin - which I do not. I
don't take any of the body building stuff...just natural, high grade
vitamins and some amino acids. I'm not a spring chicken and I don't have
the reserves to run on like I used to. If you are referring to the "stuff"
I put in the pancake mix, that was only additional organic, high in fiber
pancake mix to try to increase the fiber in their diet. They avoid whole
wheat products like the plague if they know that's what I am trying to get
them to eat.Elise By the way, no one would eat the muffins at the gym since
they were going out for sushi after working out. They actually weren't too
bad, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to buy them again.

what is the reason for taking all those supplements?

Sorry, Beverly and Elise, that you're both having stress in your lives. Boy,
it never lets up, does it!

Whenever the label is too confusing, I just chuck it back on the shelf to
*punish* the manufacturers for their attempts to be deceptive. I refuse to
buy what takes more than a couple of seconds to understand.

Sorry 'bout that :-).

By the way, your lifting looked good today. Your snatches have come
along well since I last watched you doing them. And your last few
jerks were nice.
