Default RAFL week 9 - Prairie Roots

Well, on the list of major life stresses, mine are not so bad. But
they did pile up this week. And I'm finding that planning this remodel
has exposed a bunch of old emotional baggage that I'm glad to be rid
of. Thanks for the encouragment.

Default RAFL week 9 - Prairie Roots

I tend to have the same thing, hard to stay focused 100% of the time when everyone
is fussing over us. I find I kind of relax just a little too much. G But,
that's ok too - sometimes you just have to relax, as long as we don't make it a
forever thing.

I have a tough time with jeans too, had someone the other day tell me to try the
junior sizing (yeah, right, sure - not gonna happen unless I want to totally
humiliate myself). Relaxed fit is too big in the legs, hips and thighs - look
like clown pants on me. I have a pair of carpenter pants on today, size 6 and
very baggy. I could take a 4 in these and probably still have a bit of room to
spare - they don't come in 4's. In lower rise jeans I seem to need a smaller size
than in regular cut higher waist - the waist is too snug for my liking and I do
like to be able to breath. I haven't tried the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, always
made the assumption that those *designer* names wouldn't work for me - maybe I
will give them a try as I saw some cute capri's in a sales ad this week. I found
a new one that does fit me well though, only ones in the Lee brand that aren't
baggy in the legs ... they have a *one true fit* or something like that - fits me
very nicely ... everywhere. Same with the Levi Nouveau but I forget which number
(why do they assign the styles numbers???). The levi's have a little stretch to
them, great in the waist but tend to get a tad baggy in the seat after a few
hours. Oh well, I like the baggy better than the constant snug I used to deal
with. g Shirts are an entirely different story with me - range anywhere from a
small to a large, depending on the store and brand. I have no clue.

My food was off this week. More importantly, I didn't exercise even
once. I'm on a rollercoaster ride with the impending construction work
on my kitchen and bathroom. My current dilemma is deciding what kind
of kitchen sink I want and how much of my construction budget I want
to spend on it. I still haven't gotten my bike. Later today I'll have
to call and find out if I need to get cranky. The bus strike started
and I'm carpooling, leaving earlier than usual and getting home later.
I'm starting with a new hospice patient whose health issues. A major
project I've been involved with at work is nearing completion and
morphing into an even bigger project.

All of this is to say that I took a bit of a breather from WW this
week to marvel at my overall progress and to focus on a few other
pressing issues. That I ended up maintaining is a wonder.

It's the best day of my life!

Thanks for the tips on jeans. I'm gathering that you and I might have
similar body shapes. I like both Lee and Levi jeans but can't seem to
find anything other than relaxed fit. Since I HATE that clown pants
effect, I stopped looking. But maybe I'll snoop around and see if I
can locate the ones you mentioned and give 'em a try. For now, the
Gloria Vanderbilt's are doing me just fine.

Between the fuss at work and the commotion at home trying to pick
floor coverings and backsplash tiles and countertops and mirrors and
lighting and bathroom fixtures and accessories, well, it's all fun but
my brain is getting clogged.

Focus, I need focus.

That is a very smart thing to do every now and then. I think it helps with
future losses, and gives an idea of what one can eat during maintenance as
you get closer.

You have been doing real well and a week of Maintenance seems
reasonable. But do not deceive yourself about what you want your
ultimate goal to be. Figure it out with certainty and then make the
decisions that accompany that goal.

Sorry about the bike delay. Sometimes parts are a problem with
backorder. But suggest appropriately you expected the bike and the
transit strike makes it even more important that they move on it,
including contacting another shop who may provide them the parts
(fenders, was it?). Shops usually know one another.

But also CONGRATULATIONS on all of those clothing victories. That is
phenomenal.

Today I'm grateful to see no change in my weight from last week. I've
been on a mental plateau this week. Hitting the 70+ total loss and
getting below 160 is doing a job on my motivation to keep going. This
is further than I expected to go; some part of me I haven't heard from
before is wondering why I think I should even further.

It probably didn't help that, on a whim, I tried on a jacket formerly
worn by one of my skinny daughters and discovered that it fit. I also
went shopping for some new jeans and got into a classic fit size 10
petite withOUT stretch. When I also discovered that the medium tops
fit nicely, I realized I should head over to the foundations
department for new undergarments and give my girls a new lift. Since
starting WW, I've gone down from 44DD to 38D.

My food was off this week. More importantly, I didn't exercise even
once. I'm on a rollercoaster ride with the impending construction work
on my kitchen and bathroom. My current dilemma is deciding what kind
of kitchen sink I want and how much of my construction budget I want
to spend on it. I still haven't gotten my bike. Later today I'll have
to call and find out if I need to get cranky. The bus strike started
and I'm carpooling, leaving earlier than usual and getting home later.
I'm starting with a new hospice patient whose health issues. A major
project I've been involved with at work is nearing completion and
morphing into an even bigger project.

All of this is to say that I took a bit of a breather from WW this
week to marvel at my overall progress and to focus on a few other
pressing issues. That I ended up maintaining is a wonder.

It's the best day of my life!

Default RAFL week 9 - Prairie Roots

Thanks Julie. My routines are going to be even more disrupted next
week as the portapotty gets set up in the back yard and the dumpster
is moved alongside the front curb. Going from a one-bathroom house to
a no-bathroom house should prove adventuresome. Figuring out alternate
ways to prepare food will be challenging too although not as bad since
I tend to use my Foreman grill, my microwave, and my slow cooker for
most of my cooking needs. It's the stir-fry stuff that will have to
wait until construction is done.

No bike yet. And we had more snow yesterday and rain today. It isn't
really biking weather yet. I'm just pretending it's spring. G

Hectic is the word I'd use to describe your life right now.

Life is not always about weightloss. It's about being comfortable with who
you are with the situation you're in. All of your normal routines have been
shaken up this week. You've had some serious NSVs (clothing is always a big
one). Go get that bike and take yourself out for a spin. Enjoy your
scenery and relax. The right decisions will be glaring you in the face when
you return.

Default RAFL week 9 - Prairie Roots

I talked with a friend today who helped me remember what I'm doing and
what my goals are. I'm sticking with my WW goal of 145 and once I'm
there, I'll consider whether to keep going. Like others who once
thought they were large-framed only to discover that a small frame was
hiding underneath the bulk, I'm realizing that I'm small-framed too.
130 probably is not an unrealistic weight for me. When I look at
what's still stuck to my middle, I know that there's more than 14 lbs
to lose.

If I can get back to my exercise routine this week, that'll help keep
the other voices quiet. Making matters worse, I remembered today that
I haven't taken my Body Blues vitamin since Tuesday. Once I start
feeling good, I forget to do what it takes to keep feeling good.
Defies all logic that I do that.

What you need to do is take time to decide what you're comfortable with.
You are the one that has to live in your body, so you do what's right for
you. I think you've done exceptionally well, losing 72.4 lbs. must feel so
good!

Ooooh, two nice clothing NSV's, those are my favorites! I'm at a 38D right
now, but would like to get down to about a 36-38C, which is what I was
before I gained all my weight. At least I'm down from a 38DD to a 38D! The
rest will come, I just have to stay OP! So far so good....

We all have weeks that our food is off, and it sounds like you've had alot
on your mind this week, so maintaining while you have all this other *stuff*
to deal with is something to be proud of!
