Default Rapid Weight Loss

I started Atkins about a week ago weighin in at 213. Now I'm 6'2" and
pretty built so I'm not significantly overweight, but I weighed myself today
and I'm down to 205. Eight pounds in less than a week seems like way too
much! Is it? And what should I do to slow the loss if I'm going at an
unhealthy rate? Thanks for your help guys.

Some of the loss is water and some fat (more the former than the latter).
This is normal since ketosis is a diuretic as well a process that burns
fat. Your weightloss will naturally slow down as you progress through the
various stages of Atkins and the loss will be mainly fat from that point
on. As long as you feel OK (no dizziness, extreme weakness, etc.) and
you're getting most of your carbs from vegetables then you shouldn't have
to worry. Otherwise, just add an extra serving or two of LC vegetables and
slowly drop down to 20 grams a day. This is recommended in the book if a
person feels ill from losing too quickly.

Well, I don't necessarily feel ill but I have noticed I sleep a lot and
definitely lost some ability when lifting and running. I guess this is
normal for a little bit though. Thanks for your guy's help. Keep up the
great work on the board!
