Default Need advice for effective anti-cellulite treatment

Hello, all,

This is not really a low-carb question, but I thought perhaps someone
on this newsgroup has experience in this area...

I have cellulite, and am looking for effective ways of reducing it. I
exercise and drink lots of water, but would like to also try some
creams, etc.

Does anyone know or has tried a product that actually works? I
understand, that results vary, but would appreciate your experiences!

Thank you very much!

Air-brushing works.

Nothing you apply in a cream will reduce anything but the contents
of your wallet. Creams only affect the outer dead layer of the
skin and do nothing to the live layers below, and certainly nothing
to the subcutaneous fat and connective tissue below the skin.

Cellulite is a made up word for the appearance of fat on women's thighs.
It has to do with the arrangement of connective tissue around the
fat layer. The angle and thickness of connective tissue fibers is
different in most women from most men, so men almost never have cellulite.
Sometimes the connective tissue contracts, forming more pronounced
puckering around the fat.

This has been explained in depth by plastic surgeon Aaron Stone a
number of times, one post is he
"http://groups.google.com/groups?&selm=MZG2a.14278%24tO2.1339813%40newsread1 .prod.itd.earthlink.net"

Losing fat is the main thing that helps.

There are some claims that very vigorous massage (or endermologie)
can break up the fibers of the contracted connective tissue somewhat,
reducing the cellulite appearance, but there is some question as
to whether it's really doing anything to the fibers, or just causing
temporary swelling that makes the cellulite less noticeable, because
the effect seems to require "maintenance treatments."

Hello!

Thank you all for your replies... I understand that for the most
part, cellulite is genetic, and nothing can be done about it. But
maybe there is something that can at least tone or firm up the skin?
I lost some weight, and this made the "orange peel" effect on my
thighs worse. I was hoping that maybe there is some product that can
make the skin appear tighter. I'm not even looking for a cure, just a
coverup.

And while I'm on the topic, what about strechmarks? Is there any
product to help with those?

Thanks for your help and input!

Well, I've seen those ads for Nivea skin firming lotion, and ads for
Mederma, a scar treatment that claims to help stretch marks. It's worth a
shot I guess, but I'm a skeptic. Skin does firm up some on its own, in
time. And stretch marks can be covered with makeup. But anything that
would actually physically, permanently change the texture of your skin
would have to get _in_ the skin, not just on it, and anything powerful
enough to get in the skin would also be powerful enough to cause
potentially damaging side effects, so would probably require a prescription.

Yup...exercise. And we're talking real exercise done on a regular
basis. I have cellulite on my upper thighs and butt. Since I've
started a more intensive exercise program, I've noticed a significant
difference in the appearance of my trouble spots. Like...a REALLY,
REALLY big difference. More muscle, less fat. Try it.

Building some muscle will help fill out loose skin. And it will
eventually tighten some with time.
