Atkins will drop the pound fast and youwill not feel hungry, you just got to fight the boredom and craving for sugar products. Sugar is loaded in just about everything we eat, that's why we are so addicted to it! |

The focus should not be on "fast" but rather finding a new way-of-life and way-of-eating. I can't guess what *you* can live with, but reading Atkins' book would be a good start in a search. Whatever diet you chose, 1 pound per week is good progress. Do the math. |

help .....can anyone help me? summer is coming up and i would rather be a beach babe instead of a beach whale! but i love food and it shows.......tell me a diet i can live with. Oh my, I am so glad I came across this group. I love to talk about losing weight, fat, inches and try to help others. I have no degree however I have much experience in this field. I don't have all the answers and I am not a know it all but have helped many with the so call diet yo yo we all tend to experience from time to time at least once in our life's. My husband has a weight loss site and I search for weight and health products for him to provide for his customers. However I go one step further and try to test each and every product out. If it does not pass a certian percentage of it working out of all the people he has try it then it does not make the site. So this is great as I tell it like it is and can only give information about products that he has had tested by friends, customers and sometimes myself. Since my health has not been at it's greatest I don't take to many diet pills and lean towards natural foods. Enough of that I don't want to sound l am pitching some kind of sale. I just get carried away when I get excited about something I love.. When it comes to losing weight I have been there and done that. The low carb is ok however you have to understand what low carb really means. Also just because it says low carb does not mean it can't make you fatter. So many people think that they can eat the whole bag when it says low carb. So much to learn about these tatics in losing weight. I myself love The South Beach Diet. If you can make it through the first 2 weeks then your on your way. The first week was the hardest, the second week I couldn't eat all the food. I lost weight like crazy, I took my time and thought losing 3-5 pounds as a goal and as not to overwhelm me with a 30 pounds goal. Mind over matter... I think people need to do what works for them in the long run. This was going to be a lifestyle change for me so this is why I chose it. The South Beach Diet is more realistic and something you can stick with. If you don't want to do The South Beach Diet, I still recomment getting the book and reading it up to the receipes. This book is well worth the information and really opened up my eyes and it also gave me an answer the plagued me since I was a child. The same o same o, why does the bottom of my belly feel so bloated and stuffed full while the upper part which was actually my stomach have those awful nagging hunger pains. I found out why after reading The South Beach Diet, and yes it does have to do with those carbs. After reading the book you'll have an idea of what the good carbs are and the bad carbs. The same goes for everything else, you'll be surprised and thankful you at least read the book. There never is a real quick fix although you can achieve a fast weight loss but then again it's at your own risk. But they are out there, sometimes it costs you a lot of money just over the years trying one after another trying to find one that works for you. The thing is we all burn fat in a different way and our metabolisms are not all the same. So that is why there are soooooooo many diet pills and drinks out there. If you have read all of this so far I really appreciate it and hope you will trust enough in me to help you or anyone else. Have a Blessed Day! |

Are you aware that the faster weight is lost the more certain it is to be regained? Please rethink your goals in terms of keeping it off as long as possible. As to a diet you can live with I think any of the popular low carb plans will work fine. Select a plan, read the book, follow the directions, do NOT skip parts of the directions because you don't want to do that or don't understand why - The authors spent at least a decade working out these plans and they work better than you can think up while reading the book. Just take advantage of the plan and follow the directions anyways. Also resist the temptation to stay in the early parts in the hopes of losing faster. That's the path to fad dieting and the path to regaining. I prefer Atkins but any of the well known plans work. |

I thought about the Atkins however I had seen several doctors on TV talk about the so called fad diets and out of the all them The South Beach Diet was rated to be the best. It was for many reasons but for what I can remember it was a more realistic approach for a lifestyle change for eating, not loaded with the red meats which can affect a lot of people because of too much protein, it teaches you the good fats and bad fats, good protien and bad protiens, the good and bad of foods so you get a good idea of how to eat. I love this way of eating so much and it's amazing what losing fat will do. You don't really have to be concerned about the weight when you have the fat falling off of you when you are eating right. My weight is 125 and I wear a size 5 some 7's. The hard cover book it the one to buy at www.rodale.com. You can buy the softcover in stores but not the hardcover and the hardcover has a few hundred more pages with valuable information you don't get in the softcover. I didn't know there was a difference when I borrowed the book from a friend and she wanted it back before I got to finish reading it. So I went to go buy one and thumbed thru it at the store to the page I stopped at, it was not the same as what I had read. So I didn't buy the book and I asked her where she got hers. That is when I found out she ordered it. I am sure they have lots of new updated books and I am going to find some on their receipes. Have a Blessed Day! |

A fad diet is a diet you don't approve of. It's a nearly meaningless word the way most use it. The way I use it - A real plan has a built in maintenance phase intended to last for life. By my meaning none of the popular low carb plans are fad diets. Neither are the popular low fat plans and so on. But stuff like the cabbage soup diet are fad diets. It was for many reasons but for what I can remember it was a more realistic approach for a lifestyle change for eating, not loaded with the red meats which can affect a lot of people because of too much protein, While I won't say anything bad about SBD I will say something bad about these doctors - That doesn't describe what the Atkins book actually says so they didn't read the book. Do you really want to take advice from a doctor who will make pronouncements based on his incorrect opinions of books he hasn't read? That's a doctor I want to write off as an idiot. If you had selected your excellent plan by rolling dice you would have used a better selection method. But since SBD is an excellent plan how you selected it is a lot less important than whether you selected it. it teaches you the good fats and bad fats, good protien and bad protiens, the good and bad of foods so you get a good idea of how to eat. So does Atkins. The one good Dr A did work for the other good Dr A for a while. It is no surprise to Atkins fans that SBD is excellent. It is at worst Atkins lite and at best Atkins improved. The hard cover book it the one to buy at www.rodale.com. They publish all sorts of health oriented books. Many are quite excellent. You can buy the softcover in stores but not the hardcover and the hardcover has a few hundred more pages with valuable information you don't get in the softcover. Thanks. I was not aware of any differnce between covers. |

It is the expert consensus that got us into this mess.

Thanks. *I was not aware of any differnce between covers. Hello Again, Well it seems I should of been more selective in choosing my words. I wasn't calling the Atkins and The South Beach Diet a fad diet as I was explaining they were going over all the fad diets and I should of said and other diets but I was trying to keep it short thinking one who has done dieting should know the difference, and you my friend did, so rah rah, good one. So it is up to me to clarify what I wrote as it seems that I tried to take the shortcut, so here goes... I said: "It was for many reasons but for what I can remember it was a more realistic approach for a lifestyle change for eating, not loaded with the red meats which can affect a lot of people because of too much protein" The realistic approach is one thing the doctors did say, the loaded with the red meats was my comment which pertains to things that was said during the TV program. And you said: "While I won't say anything bad about SBD I will say something bad about these doctors - That doesn't describe what the Atkins book actually says so they didn't read the book. Do you really want to take advice from a doctor who will make pronouncements based on his incorrect opinions of books he hasn't read? That's a doctor I want to write off as an idiot." I don't recall saying anything about what the Atkins book says..The doctors made a comment on The South Beach Diet. Then the rest is self explanitory so I don't even need to go there...Plus taking advice from a doctor of whom I haven't been to, now that is scary. This TV program was informational and did comparsions on various diets. I can only assume the doctors had to of read the Atkinns Diet book to be able to do the show. Great place it is here to be able to comment and share your opionion but being a newbie here I guess I had better learn to slow down some and stop taking short cuts.. its not like anyone is a mind reader here.. or are they? lol Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for letting me clear it up... hmm did that sound right..??? |
