Binge-eating is seen as eating disorder

... Binge-eating is seen as eating disorder It is recognized as growing health problem in U.S. [snip story] You know, it's funny how people seem to mainly binge on sweets and salty, highly processed carbs. So... the obesity epidemic is caused by "underlying mental disorders" that play out because of an "overabundance of unhealthy food and poor exercise habits." But it's funny that for most of us who *used* to binge, at least occasionally, keeping the carbohydrate content of our diet fairly low seems to pretty much stop that behavior. It returns when we start eating too many carbs, though. So how can it be all in our heads? We seem to have a lot of health professionals who are missing the boat in a major way, don't we? HG |

HG I agree with you on that sweet and salty highly processed carbs are the main reason why many or us and myself end up eating more than we thought we would / could! Some psychiatrists / psychotherapists thinks that binging are often associated with a feeling of emptiness. I guess it's a combo of psychological and physical problems. I wouldn't call it mental though - calling someone sad and calling someone mad are very very different in my opinion. |

Binge-eating is seen as eating disorder
Chemical inbalances are the cause of many behavior problems/mental disorders.
Binge-eating is just one of many. It's a fine edge between selfcontrol and over the top, whether it's sex, drugs, anger, eating, etc. And, don't forget, it works the other way, too. Some people are just born with the chemistry to be even natured, tolerant, happy-go-lucky, and able to stop at just one doughnut. Just ask any nurse who works in a newborn nursery. The older I get the more I see that we have to live with and conquer the hand we were dealt at birth and I have grown so less judgemental of people's behavior. Loving tolerance and forgiveness to help myself and others when we slip. Hen. |
