Gym membership? I know when the weather is crappy like this, not only do I
NOT want to go outside, I start to feel glum. The gym is always bright and
has upbeat music, it makes me feel good to be there, and it's DRY.

I went of a walk in the rain last night. It wasn't cold - I don't
live in that climate. But I can also say that last winter while
visting the cold tundra of the north - I walked a couple times a day
each day. Put on my long underwear, pants, and even snow/wind pants
too to help keep the cold out of me. Heck - my thought was I burned
more calories from the 20lbs of extra clothing . (sarcasm... )

Anyhow - worse case its so crappy outside you can't go out. (ie, you
live in Nova Scotia and were hit by the hurricane last week and had a
couple days of heavy downpours, extreme winds w/ debris flying
everywhere and chances of tornados, lightening,e tc). In those
worse case scenerios, turn on some music in the house and move for a
half an hour. Jumping jacks, pushups, crunches, run in place,
dance... change these out every couple minutes to keep the boredom
from setting in. ALl you need is a form of music or entertainment,
and a space big enough for you to laydown in, and ceilings high enough
that you can't touch them with your hands extended up.

Try living in Halifax, Nova Scotia right now. We just had Hurricane
Juan literally sweep our city.

I agree! g I'm fighting the early sundown more than any weather. I know
once DST is finished, I'll just have to use the treadmill after supper, but
I'm putting it off as long as possible. We're eating supper earlier, I'm
cleaning up the kitchen when I get back. I will truly miss my evening walk
outside - it's much too dark and the roads too narrow for me to be out
walking then. I'll be dreaming of snowshoeings.

That's why I started going to Curves in the AM and trying to do my running
in the afternoon. It's really cold out now and nighttime dark at 5AM. I'll
be posting a picture of our snow yesterday on my website this weekend.
Hopefully we'll get one more burst of warm weather before snowshoe season

Jenn
