N. Lables, Fat & Cholesterol
I've been counting calories for a while & also have been trying to eat a
little healthier (gradually). Figure that I'm on a 2000 calorie diet, what should I be looking to get (or not get) in terms of fat, cholesterol and the various nutrients? There is an awful lot of opinionated crap out there online & I don't want to fall victim to bad advice. Also, I don't know whether the %dv on the labels is based on reality, junk science or political bull****. Pretty much everyone in this group though, the regular posters, are doers, not just talkers. So I thought I'd ask here. Thanks! |

Thought I'd pass that link along, though, since the question I asked is so broad. |

Some people choose to eat a higher percentage of carbs, or different ratio of carbs/protein/fat. I personally eat around 40% fat, 40% carbs, and 20% protein. But my fat tends to be the healthy type - like from avocadoes, nuts, fish and olive oil. Also, my carbs are more from high fiber sources like whole wheat, fruits and vegetables, and beans. |

Low carb works for many people but not for all people. This means there is no real way to figure out if a system is good or bad without trying it. Systems that claim other systems are wrong, at least you know they start out with problems. Systems that acknowledge that others systems work then explain why this system is better, at least that's just regular bias. Also, I don't know whether the %dv on the labels is based on reality, junk science or political bull****. Mostly junk. "determined" wrote Just curious how you came to decide that you would try a 2000 calorie diet? Good question. Presntly am 265-ish, 6'2", moderate activity. The numbers just seem to work out that way. Actually my goal is 1800/day, but that's hard to stick with. I'm about to up that to 2000-2200 per day. Also, it was convenient to use as an example since the package labels are based on 2000/day. |
