Just depends on what you think or find will work for you. They both start
out with an *induction* of two weeks... which I did not realize until I read
a bit about South Beach recently. I would say try SB as some people find it
is easier to handle although slower.. remember it shouldn't be a race but a
way to find something you can live with the rest of your life. You cannot
just *do a diet* lose the weight, then stop the *diet*. You lose the weight
on Atkins or SB and then gradually add back in certain carbs to the level
that will maintain your weightloss but not lose or gain anymore. Each gives
you guidelines but they are still a very individual thing and it takes a bit
of trial and error to find what will work for you. Most here have realized
that and do not push one *strict* type of low carb diet following to the
absolute word.. and then some *do* have to follow it like that as it is the
only way they can lose weight. You just really have to find out what works
best for you. 50 pounds isn't a grossly huge amount of weight (well maybe it
is if you're only 4 feet tall) so in my opinion, if I were you, I would take
it slow but "bearable". You can read about both diets online and I hope
someone jumps in with links because I don't have them at the moment. You can
at the very least use them as guidelines for what you can and cannot eat to
start out with.
