Dunno. I've no experience with SB, but from reading the posts here, it
seems as if SB is higher carb much sooner (beans, whole grains etc) and
lower fat, especially saturated fat. But higher and lower are both
relative to Atkins, not the mainstream diet. Quite a few have done well
on it.

You can get some info at www.southbeachdiet.com but it is a pay site, so you
can only get a little info, for free.

Basically, you nailed it. Sb is more strict about saturated fat and
emphasizes the lower glycemic index carbs (more lenient on carb intake)
-the "good" vs "bad" carbs. Weight loss is not as dramatic w. SB as
Atkins. I have a couple of colleagues doing well with SB.

I don't know about the weight loss not being as dramatic on SB. I have just
finished 6 days on SB and have lost 9 lbs! Know this will not continue, but
when I first did Atkins induction I didn't lose this much this fast.

As a matter of fact I switched to SB after being mostly off Atkins over the
holidays. Before the holidays was at a real stall with Atkins. This has
gotten me moving again.

Thanks Jaime!

I am very familar with stalls on Atkins! But I have had a great amount of
success with Atkins too! Seeing as I know the plan better this will be my
trek. And when a stall hits(which it will) I will purchase the South Beach
Book! Then I can be a exprt(yeah right!) on both!
