Right and you should not assume that a 40 year old woman would not know
such things..since they are told such things from the time they are 10
years old.. I think that was the point being made.

That's his specialty (speculation and assumption). We're all stupid, dincha

That makes sense, although it would be silly not to mention this
possibility that weight changes are due to monthly stuff. My DW gains
and loses about 4 pounds every months.

Still not getting it, are we? Let's take a poll - are there any women
reading this NG that didn't know it's possible to experience weight gain due
to their TOM? It is silly that you think you have to remind a woman about
the possibility.

No, wait, it's not so silly....so let me get this straight, does he mean
that women actually GAIN weight during the TOM???? Well, my goodness, I did
not know that! Huh, well, one learns something every day. I guess it takes a
non-rugged-looking guy to tell all us women a thing or two.

Martha
I got a bridge to sell a particular someone on this NG. It's new, never been
used, it's a real bargain.

To be honest.. I had no idea that could happen every month to a woman.
Thank goodness for Ig, he shed some light. I've only been getting a period
for 22 years and I never understood why I got bloated until now.

I'm not quite sure why you've been called to the carpet on this one, ig -

it
*is* a perfectly reasonable thing to mention, and from reading this
newsgroup and asdlc, it seems that many women in fact do *not* know to
expect such fluctuations.

You are absolutely right... after getting my monthly cycle for 22 years and
experiencing bloating and water weight gain at the same time.. I never
correlated the 2 until now. *DUH*

*shrug* It seems obvious to me too. And yet, I have seen many times in the
diet newsgroups posts by newbie dieters flipping out because their weight
fluctuates here or there, fearing that their diets have stopped working.
Many people who are new to dieting are slowly awakening from a lifetime of
paying *no* attention to their bodies whatsoever, and actually may not have
put together the two and two that do quite clearly make four. I'm not
saying that the OP in this case was such a person, or that you were, or that
I was - but the fact is, some people are.

I gather from having read this group for many months that you don't like Ig,
and that's fine with me. I just didn't think he deserved to be jumped on
this particular time, for saying something that is *true* and might actually
prove to be helpful to someone reading the group. Just my opinion, of
course - do I even need to point that out?
