Exercise more than once a day?
I've been considering going to the gym twice a day: once in the morning
and once in the evening. All along my weight loss journey, I typically go once in the morning and do a hard workout, but I was thinking of either adding some sort of cardio-type class in the evening or just doing another 30-40 mins. on the treadmill. I'm wondering how much that type of thing might speed up weight loss (trying to shed the last 7 pounds) and/or whether there are any drawbacks to that plan. I realize I'm not going to go into super weight-loss mode and start dropping more than two pounds a week or anything nor do I want to. But here lately I've been dropping 1 to 1.5 a week and am wondering if this might ramp it up to 2. I don't care to make any dietary changes to achieve the 2 pounds because I'm already eating about 1600 calories a day and that has been optimal to me in terms of not being absolutely ravenous when I go to bed. Thanks! - SQN 190/137.5/130 |

If you do your cardio at one workout, and weights during the other, you are starting each time fresh and energized, so you'll have more stamina. You'll work out harder each time and will therefore burn more calories. It's pretty typical to lose weight much slower as you get closer to goal. If you are losing 1 lb a wk, you are still doing very well. It's not unusual to only be able to drop a half lb or less per wk for the last 5 lbs or so. |

I'd have no trouble doing more cardio at night. It's pretty typical to lose weight much slower as you get closer to goal. If you are losing 1 lb a wk, you are still doing very well. I'm eager to make my goal, but I'm also ok with it going slowly because right now, if I never lost another pound, I look good and feel good so I'm not freaked out by the slowness. That said, it will be nice to get there Thanks oregonchick, I appreciate your reply! |

There are a lot of days I do more than one kind of activity, but I tend to keep it intense once time and then light the other. -- the volleyballchick |
