Default Work out while sick??

It's a
psychological thing, slacker inertia, you know?

Uh huh. But take it from me, your bod *will* take it out of your ass for
overtraining.

Case in point:

First week of September. I'm moving, so I can't stay on my schedule. I only get
three days in, when I usually do five or six, no cardio. By the end of the week
I'm feeling guilty and fat.

Second week of September. I'm in California, I decide I am going to really hit
it to make up for last week and I even sign up for a real, actual Pilates class
which I take along with five at-home full hours of Pilates plus an hour of
cardio, every day. It keeps my head clear, even though I feel like I might be
coming down with something...

Third week of September. Man I'm tired. I take a rest day. I eat way too much
the next day. I'm depressed. I work out anyway. I decide I can afford a high
carb day, so I have one of those. I don't wanna do Pilates, I sort of want to
die for reasons unrelated to the fact that I missed a perfectly good workout
day -- *but* -- I work out anyway. I'm up three pounds and my basic routine
seems hard as hell. Hm.

Yesterday, I go for a walk on the beach and *throw my back out*, completely,
for no reason whatsoever that I can remember. Today I am sitting in front of my
computer, taking Advil, moping and eating way too much cream cheese and almond
butter. I can't turn a certain way without emitting a sort of pathetic yelp.
Now I'm wondering if I'm going to make it to my Pilates class tomorrow and
finding out how much chiropractors cost around here.

Something tells me I could have avoided this if I had been less of an idiot,
but I'm apparently one of these remedial types who only learns through
excruciating pain.

c

We report, you decide.

According to the trainers I have had, you should work out unless you are
running a tempeture. If you just have a head cold you probably will feel
much better if you work out. I think you should go for it. As far as
working out at the club, as long as you are not sneezing all over eveyone
and keep yourself clean, you should go. If you are not comfortable, then
workout at home. Work up a good sweat and let us know how you feel. I
suspect you will feel better.

I work out at Curves, and I skipped some workouts last month, and I just
started getting back into a more regular schedule. And then today I wake
up with a head cold. Nothing serious, just runny nose and a bit of a

cough
and my nech aches. I feel like I could do the workout with no ill effects
as long as I don't push too hard, but I don't want to leave my germs all
over the place and get everyone else there sick. And I'm a little worried
about working out when you're sick: is it ok or will it make me even
sicker? If it is ok, I could do some jogging and push ups and stuff at
home.

I compromised. I walked for about 10 minutes, but as soon as I started
breathing hard I started coughing pretty bad, so I came back inside and did
some stretching for about 15 minutes. I feel a little better tonight than I
did earlier, I hope I'm totally recovered tomorrow.

You're right to worry about infecting others - if you're like me,
aerobics makes my nose stream and also makes me cough up phlegm even
when I'm not sick. I have a friend with a compromised immune system
(MS) who gets an attack if he catches cold, and he goes to the gym, so
do be considerate in obvious ways; wash hands, wipe down equipment with
antiseptic wipes provided etc. OTOH, that said, he can't live in a
glass bubble and neither can you.

I always run even when sick, but go light on hi-intensity weights as I
think fever makes my heart rate a bit fast for maximising.

"Luna" Yeah, I really don't want to get anyone else sick. I HAVE to go to
work
today, no way around that, but we do have hand sanitizers there and I will
do my best not to breathe on anyone. Do you think it will have adverse
effects on my health to do some exercise at home today? Actually, since
the original post I am feeling worse and worse, I may just take it easy

and
have some chicken soup (no noodles, of course!)

Noting the time of post this is prolly too late but here is my opinion if ya
still want it :-)
Work out if you want to, ever just going for a walk or even a jog if ya
can/like. It will help sweat out the bug.

I felt much better today, no more sneezing and just a little bit of a
cough, so I worked out today and felt much better. I did go to Curves, but
I used antibacterial soap and washed my hands before I started, and I had
to cough once but I coughed inside my shirt so I didn't get any germs on my
hands to spread to the machines. I have no way to tell if I'm still
contagious or not, but other than the cough (which will probably last a
while since I smoke) I didn't feel sick at all.
