Default new person looking for pizza crust

Hey all!
Brand new low carber here. I've done my share of low carb diets in the
past, most often the 'cyclic ketogenic diet'. It worked well, but at
the time there just weren't many options for a low-carb dieter. Today,
the low-carb options spurred me to start again. I *finally* read the
Atkin's book and am following his recommendations. I'm at the end of my
2-wk induction and have been doing fine. No cravings, and continual
weight loss. The last few days I haven't changed much, but I noticed my
weight has stabilized. It hasn't really changed the last few days. I
was worried I had somehow knocked myself out of ketosis, but I splurged
on some keto strips and checked. Still good. I'll just keep plugging
and see what happens.
Anyway, I checked out the newsgroup recipe listing and found "Melissa’s
Pizza Crust". Has anyone tried this or have a favorite they like? My
family had pizza tonight and it's my one weakness. Donuts, cake, candy
I can leave. Pizza I like. It wasn't torture or anything but it would
be nice.
I've lurked for a week, but am still figuring out the sig lines.
260/245/220

220 is my goal for my birthday in April. I'll probably set my final
goal at around 200 when I re-evaluate.

Thanks all!

If your weight has stabilized...

Maybe you should wait for the pizza.

Hi Mark
Welcome to the group.

If I'm at a meeting that has pizza (its at every meeting) I eat the cheese
and meat that way the smell isn't killing me. I can live with out the crust
on pizza but pasta is the hard thing for me. )
You might find a few no crust pizza recipes around that might be a better
choice for now.
Good Luck!!
Angie

Here is one that I had tried once. I love cauliflower and use it in many
ways. Especially as a potato salad replacement. The Pizza crust recipe had
been around a while. Give it a try. My opinion on it was so so. It's tough
to imitate real crust. What can you lose? (Fat huh?)

Thanks much for the recipe. I had seen the meat recipes for "crust",
but they didn't appeal to me. I'm more likely to get a veggie lover
pizza than a meat lovers. I have a head of cauliflower in my fridge
now, so I'll probably give this a try sometime this week. I'm starting
to add my 5gms/wk starting this week, so a piece of this might be on my
list.

Thanks!

Hey Mark!

When I make pizza, (I make my own sauce), I put whatever type of meat I'm
using-pepperoni and sausage OR shrimp-into a small casserole with a bit of
the sauce-either red sauce, alfredo or pesto- cover it with some cheese and
bake until its bubbly. That way, my family can have their pizza and I dont
have to "skin it"...

Know where you're coming from! Not a good plan until you've worked your way
up the adding carbs tree, but I use a low-carb bread mix as a base, then
split it 4 ways; makes my total carb intake for the meal something like 40g,
OK if I've had a low-carb day otherwise.

The meatza thing is good, but didn't touch the pizza cravings...

Nicky.
