Can you accept that things are harder for some people than for others?
For instance, learning calculus is definitely easier for someone who's
gifted in math than for someone who isn't, but that doesn't mean the
person who isn't gifted can't learn it. That person just has to work
harder. And it's not like Luna is smoking and making excuses for that.
She quit, and she's having a hard time but she hasn't started smoking
again.



I'm giving her extra motivation to carry on.

Some thoughts:

You might want to spend some time alone ... quiet ... focusing on your
breathing, taking some slow deep breaths. Most smokers inhale deeply
so, counter intuitively, actually suck in more oxygen than when they
quit smoking and breathe more shallowly. Tobacco is also cured in
sugar, which is part of the withdrawal - a good Complex vitamin may help
- B-1 is especially good with addictions. I personally also invite my
higher power into my consciousness and call a supportive friend.


I agree with the time, alone. I also think that, and this is NOT a
dirty word, nor a cop-out, nor a way of saying anything other than what
I'm going to say, that therapy is a good thing.

Of course, I'm coming from a background wherein my mentors wanted
everyone they worked with to have therapy, even if there were no
external issues going on, such as quitting an addiction, having
relationship issues, family problems, etc.

Therapy is a good way to get in touch with the inner you - and to really
find out why one makes the decisions one makes. It's also a great way
to come to understand the way one moves in the world, and why it is that
sometimes our view of ourself varies from the outside view of us - and
what that does.

There are some great programs out there that aren't about psychotherapy,
but are about counselling and discussion. I've always found it helpful,
particularly when I've been dealing with stress.

it's sweeping the country. I hadn't realized it.



I'm actually pretty proud of some of the things I've written in
these arguments. The point isn't to convince anyone else that I'm
right, it's to make sure, for myself, that I know I'm right. I
can't _really_ know what I think and if it makes sense until I try
to convince someone else. Some of my journal entries are like
that. I'll write as if I'm arguing with someone I don't know,
someone fictional, or from history, or current events.


Ah... I see. Well, good! I'd misunderstood from some post or other
that you were upset about some peoples' opinions here.

Keep breathing deeply at least for a few minutes a day. I don't know
how you journal - I like to go to the Oprah site and keep a journal.
It's a nice set up and can be printed if you want. Maybe there are
lots of such places on the net now. It's easy to look back and see how
you were doing at any time.

Keep up the great work. Remember, the last addiction to go puts up the
biggest fight!
