Default Make that Sodium

If you consume more sodium on one day than usual do you drink more water in
an attempt to flush the system or will the water just be retained longer
because of the additional sodium?

Sorry about previous post

No -- I don't worry about it, or for that matter concern myself with
tracking short-term water weight gains or losses. After all, it is
water, and not fat. Just be make sure to drink 8-10 8 oz. glasses of
water consistently on a daily basis, or a bit more if you exercise
more strenuously than usual and you'll be fine.

or will the water just be retained longer because of the additional sodium?

Generally speaking, no. The opposite is usually the case.
