Food ideas for long travel
"JMA" wrote in message ... "Jayjay" wrote in message ... Got em already. :-) Believe me - packing for 4 weeks of travel in weather that can fluctuation anywhere from the 30's up to the 90's as well as dive gear, wedding and multiple formal nights as well as dressy and casual wear. And my shoe fetish. :-) Any idea how to condense a pair of knee high leather NineWest boots? :-) I LOVE them, and need them for a few of my outfits. I was able to roll my boots up for my last trip. DH complained that I had to take two suitcases on that trip, one was for clothes & stuff, the other for my shoes and some additional workout attire. We went by car and didn't have much room to spare because of the dog. I know that there are now services that will ship things to your hotel and guarantee to have them there waiting for you when you arrive, but I'll bet that's mostly domestic travel. It's how I plan to get my golf clubs down to Florida if I decide to fly down there for spring break. If you have time you might want to look into it. Some of them work in conjunction with the airlines. The shipping to is something I'd considered. Especially for my dress, I thought to ship to the planner over there. But at this point its not going to be ready in time to ship and make it unless I pay for express delivery. Hey, depending on where in FL you plan to go, you've got a reliable friend here you can ship to if you want security of your golf clubs. believe me, they WON'T get used. This is a "no golf" household. :-) But the option is open if you ever want to use it. |

Well thank you so kindly My in-laws are in Pensacola, actually Perdido Key and only a mile and half from the Flora-Bama bar. I think that's quite a hike from your location... DH and I were thinking of sneaking down there for a few days so I can get some more golf and beach running in. Depends on if the Packers make it to the Super Bowl this year and then we're one of the 1/3 of the season ticket holders that get SB tickets - which probably won't happen but one can hope. Jenn |

"Mad Mitch" wrote in message ... "Jayjay" wrote in message ... In "soon enough" time, I will be travelling a great distance. Between flights, layovers, customs, etc and so on, the travel time is 29 hours. (34 if you include the trip to the airport and the waiting time there) and arriving in the due location at 5am. I need ideas for food/snackitems that might 1. fit nicely in carry on luggage. 2. not cause allarm in customs 3. not cause bloating/gas 4. healthy, nutritious, low calorie, 5. non parishable, no refridgeration or heating available. I would suggest cereal bars - oaty ones are nice and also something fruity, chewy fruit flavoured sweets are nice. Remember to drink plenty - crisps would be fine (low fat if preferred) same for nuts as this will encourage you to drink more. Don't just drink water - drink fruit juice, tea, coffee - too. Michelle It depends on where. If she's traveling to Mexico, yes, don't drink the water. Water is perfectly fine to drink many others places. Protein bars, bottled water, dried fruit, jerky are good things. Where are you traveling to, Jayjay? I'm going to Norway in April. I'll be going to a big metal fest as well as getting a couple skiing days in. Martha |

Jenn well, Pensacola is over an 8 hr drive from here.... so its a bit far. bummer That's like, not really even Florida! :-) They get the cold stuff and even the white stuff every so often. Its not the "Sunshine and Palm tress of Florida... FLORIDA.... " (remember that commercial - the "I need a vacation" commercials from the 80's with the woman in an igloo - "I need a vacation"...) Well, since the bucs did so sucky this year, I'm now rooting for the packers to make it to SB. And that is so awesome that you would have a chance to go to the SB. How cool is that! |

... I'll second that - I recently travelled from the UK to Australia and the USA. Customs are totally obsessed with anything organic. You *will* have removed from you:- Any vegetable matter. Any meat. Any cereal matter not in a wrapper. You will probably have to have all your shoes disinfected too. It's a sad world No, it's a world that has nasty diseases, and parts of the world don't want them! For example, Australia is Rabies free. We couldn't stay that was without continued Customs control. Its not the "Sunshine and Palm tress of Florida... FLORIDA.... " (remember that commercial - the "I need a vacation" commercials from the 80's with the woman in an igloo - "I need a vacation"...) A good friend and former coworker just migrated down to Manatee and loves it. I've been contemplating going down there for a long weekend but I'm the kind of person who feels guilty using sick days when not actually sick. Well, since the bucs did so sucky this year, I'm now rooting for the packers to make it to SB. And that is so awesome that you would have a chance to go to the SB. How cool is that! It's waaay cool though quite a longshot. If they can beat the Eagles this weekend they'll end up probably playing the Rams in a dome and Brett doesn't do well in domes though he seems to be on a tear lately. Jenn rooting heavily for Carolina this weekend |
