Pretty soon, ten year old female humans will be lactating and birthing children .... then die at age 30. Have you noticed that glucosamine/condroiton used for healing compressed knee and hip cartilage in cows is now used for treat the same condition in people? Cant say I had noticed that. Have any of the treatments for hippos been applied to the 'human' version ? Do the human hippos fan their **** away with their tails like real hippos do ? Being a native southern Californian, I NOTICED the "broad hip syndrome" in the Great Lakes states. There is more attention paid to physcial culture and healthy living out here. Hippos. Show me a picture of a skinny hippo that isn't diseased. Hippos don't have a taste for beer, pastries, fast food, foods cooked in or with lard .... on and on. I can't say I've ever seen a "human hippo" with a tail either. Have you? (I sense your sarcasm LOL). I used to drive tractor trailer, mostly in the 12 western states. My profession has more obese members than most other professions. The I was driving 8 hours a day, twice a week for a year while working on my degree. I noticed that on those days I wasn't burning any calories to speak of. I finally learned that I shouldn't eat any breakfast before the trip and also shouldn't stop to eat during the trip. (Nor snacks during the trip). Driving evidently burns less calories than anything else. Les Hey ... you're just sitting there for 10 hrs ... bouncing along. Then ya park for 8 hrs and sleep ... maybe some walking around in a truck stop or a mall. Your left leg and right arm get a little use shifting gears in the mountains but that's it. All that sitting combined with a low fiber / high protein diet (eggs, bacon, potatoes or pancakes) wreaks hell on your intestines and prostate too. I shouldn't bring in the dangers of vascular leg thrombosis. I used to nibble on Triscuit or the small Shredded Wheats and drink bottled water. The munching kept me awake and provided a tension outlet and the water was FAR better (and cheaper) for me than gallons of coffee and/or soft drinks like so many truckers consume. -- - Philip @ Maximum Torque RPM |

"Clean your plate" "Starving kids in .... " There IS an obesity problem in our country. And the problem is spreading to other countries. But without a doubt, the fattest states I ever traveled were the states surrounding the Great Lakes. Good Grief! It was a rare sight to see a woman with hips narrower than her shoulders or men without a beer belly and/or love handles. Also, a diet featuring salt, sugar, animal fat, and alcohol is almost guaranteed to put pounds on the average person. Probably due to the lack of exercise and eating often at those truck stop resturaunts with the big portions. BJ I was talking about the typical citizens I saw in those states. Truck Stop portions are too much. NO arguement there! But then ... truckers are not the customer base for steakhouses like the Big Texan in Amarillo who FEATURES a 72 ounce steak with all the trimmin's! That FOUR and a HALF *POUNDS* of beef! -- - Philip @ Maximum Torque RPM |

I was reading in a magazine I subscribe to, that some woman from England, who had just moved to the states, wrote the editor and complained about the large serving sizes here in America, ...lady was exactly right, and not slamming "America". I think there is something like 60% obese in this country now? Disgusting... Latest statistics are about 65% are overweight; over 30% are obese. And the problem is not just in this 'country', but applies to North America as a whole. lucy, a wife who realizes the importance of looking my best for my own health, and for my husband's eyesight grins It should be noted that England has the fastest growth of obesity in Europe, with 75% of the population overweight and over 20% obese. Their weight will soon will catch up to the 'ugly Americans'. Gonna have to start offering black and yellow striped belts to hold up their pants as a warning to others. And of course, we have to make a Harley Davidson reference ... Wide Glide. LOL -- - Philip @ Maximum Torque RPM |

While this seemed like a true story, I noted a flaw. Social Security disability payments are made on the 3rd of the month, not the 1st. The whole story could be bogus. When was the last time you saw a store with TEN scooters? The point is made and your little nickpick is ignorable. Are you obese? -- - Philip @ Maximum Torque RPM |
