Default Monday again....stuck on a plateau

Hi guys and girls

I seem to be stuck on or about 227/228 lbs. For the last four weeks I have been
half a pound away from one or the other. I'm so close to my initial
goal......grrr.

I haven't been eating badly and have been following my plan. Looking back at my
food log I have had one real splurge day in the last month, which didn't cause
any major moves either way.

Oh well.....who was it that posted that "commited, consistent, patient,
persistent"? (thank you, whoever it was!!) I've pinned that to my desk and have
been thinking about it.....maybe I need to recommit and I know I need to learn
patience. Maybe it's a goal thing - now I'm so close to a goal am I getting
lax?

But that's what the list is for - posting in the hard times as well as the good
ones. I'm not really worried, I mean I feel so much better now than I did 5
months ago and I am simply not going to let go of this progress made so far. I
fit into clothes I didn't fit into last month, so something good is happening.
I'm down from a UK size 24 (and tight) from outsize shops to UK size 18 in
regular shops. I went shopping with two friends last weekend and was able to
buy things with them, which was great. Now I have to stop buying things.......3
pairs of jeans is enough til I get down another size or two

I should stop fixating on the numbers and just do what I have learned works.
And I will Trust the pantsometer! (It's not going to catch on as a warcry,
is it??!)

Have a good day all

Cellach, I know it must be frustrating to have got stuck short of the
first 50lbs, but you have done so well so far, and as you say yourself
you feel a lot better.
Congratulations on the size change as well. I know only too well how
dire it is to have to restrict oneself to outsize shops in the UK -
the choice is pretty bad even in London. It's exciting when a whole
new range of clothes becomes available in "normal" shops.
As for the weight, I'm sure you'll soon be on the move again

Default Monday again....stuck on a plateau

From: Ignoramus20725 lid

I am not too surprised that some reasonable plan that involved no
calorie counting made you feel better and made you lose some weight,
and then stopped. You simply adapted to the plan and reach a better
point in life.

I certainly have reached a better place. But I can see a *even* better one just
round the corner

Are you on some smart plan that I complimented that allows you to eat
one thing one day and another thing on another day? I forgot the
details, but it seemed like a good idea.

That's the one - lower carb or higher carbs depending on what you feel like
that day. It's marvellous.
www.slimmingworld.co.uk

So, maybe you can stay on the same plan, but make an effort to eat
less and replace some calorie dense foods with low calorie vegetables,
to feel less hungry?

My gut feel is that is unlikely, given the amount of fruit and veg I eat -

like
you - which is very low calorie. But I will look into it if nothing happens

in
a week or so.

Urm...yes - I already do eat plenty of fruit and veg...I have a rough feel for
calories and as I said, I will test out counting them in a week or so if
nothing moves. I'm due to shed some water weight soon anyway, so we'll see what
happens after that. I may just need to up the exercise some.

Default Monday again....stuck on a plateau

Hi Cellach,

I hope you get past your sticking point. I know I've been slowing down as
well, and it seems a few more days have to pass before I see the drop I want
to see. One thing I wanted to ask is....What is your exercise regimen? If
you've been eating less amounts and healthy foods and losing the weight,
then exercising will definitely help burn calories that may be sticking with
you.

I plan on posting some more pictures once I get to 220, which is only a
couple more pounds away. It's been cold here in Texas lately and my
pictures turn out better outside in the sun, so I'm waiting till I get back
from vacation this weekend, unless I lose a couple pounds before then.

I'm sure your going to make your goal weight, just keep on eating healthy,
exercise and try to increase activity and you'll lose the weight and inches.
I recently found a pair of pants in my closet that were 38 inches, so now
I'm down 10 inches from last August. Even though the weight seems to come
off slower I feel like I can tell the fat is thinning out, so I feel great
even though the weight loss is slowing a little. I think it's tougher for
someone like myself that is use to the weight coming off so quick, and then
it starts slowing as you near your goal weight. You get in a mindset that
it's going to keep on like it has, but it doesn't. It's a little difficult
to adjust to, realizing that it's coming off just slower.

Take care and good luck on getting past the plateau,

Paul

I'm doing some walking, some cardio with videos and some resistance training.
No weightlifting yet - don't have any free weights in the gym at work.

I'll look forward to seeing them, Paul. I'm planning to post some more this
weekend when I pick up my new motorbike

I see that someone here suggested you track your calories for a bit.
If you decide to do this I would strongly recommend
http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/lostart.htm as it contains
practically every UK brand food you can think of. The only trouble is
they charge to use it. I hate counting calories but I have been
putting my food intake in there recently, and I love it.

Yes, it was Mary M. I know because I kept it too. I wonder whether
she still reads here and how she is?
