Default Why/How I made my choice...

Actually, I did a HUGE amount of research before making my choice and
what it really boiled down to for me was whether I was in this just to
lose the weight or whether the nutrition aspect was important to me,
too. I've always eaten a pretty healthy diet (I grew up on things like
fresh ground peanut butter) but had put on some weight after the birth
of my second child and just haven't gotten it all off. I belong to a
gym now and go almost every day (I switch between cardio and weight
training every other day). I absolutely feel confident that I could
get the remaining 15-20 pounds off on my own but what I learned about
nutrition during my research really startled me and made me realize
that things that I used to take for granted -- such as simply eating a
diet of whole foods in as close to their natural state as possible --
just doesn't cut it anymore now that our foods are grown for quantity
instead of quality. Dr. David Heber (founding director of the Center
for Human Nutrition at UCLA) also points out that genes evolve *very*
slowly and that one of the main problems we are facing as a species is
that our food source has evolved **much** more quickly than our genes.

Sorry, I'll climb down off my soapbox now! Nutrition is something I'm
pretty passionate about... or did you catch on to that already? ;-))
It just sickens me what passes for food now... especially in the
U.S... and especially the stuff marketed to kids... and what it's
doing to people's health. Sigh.

The thing about Herbalife is if they haven't tried to get you
to sell it yet, they will. And it's a waste of money. If
you spent $80 on a pair of cross trainers and changed to a
healthy diet you could stay with for life, you would save
money and still lose the weight.

was thinking that this was sort of a "general" diet group so not

of getting the feeling that not all diets are welcome here. Could
someone tell me which diets are okay to discuss here -- and if
Herbalife is off limits, do you know of an online support group where
it is allowed?

Thanks for your help.

What is wrong with you people?! I thought this was supposed to be a
place where people support and help each other!! Have you never told
someone about a restaurant or product you like even though you have
nothing to gain from it? I didn't accuse the person who recommended I
buy an $80 pair of cross trainers of being a shoe salesman. I came
here seeking kinship from like-minded people. I came here because I
thought you all really cared about something I care about: health and
nutrition. With my first post I was told I was wasting my money so I
was simply sharing my thought process and why I don't feel I am
wasting my money and then you attack me for sharing my thoughts.

Coming here was definitely a mistake. You guys have bigger problems
than weight -- you should join a support group where you can learn to
be nice to people.

What's the difference between Herbal Life and a bucket of ****? The bucket.

Default Why/How I made my choice...

What a sad commentary on society that my expectations that people be nice to
each other are considered too high. I don't know what you are talking about
as far as spamming this group, etc. You folks have turned out to be so rude
and unkind, I wouldn't be surprised if one of you has now used my email
address just to turn people against me. If I had time to waste, I would look
into it myself but my guess is that you've made the story up. If someone has
done something, I suggest you go undo it -- because if I do find out someone
is pretending to be me, you'll be hearing from my attorney.

I have never been treated so rudely and spitefully in my life. You must be
pretty unhappy people to have so much hostility.

And to answer your question (although I'm not sure it deserves an answer),
my friend told me about Herbalife because she lost over 100 pounds on it 3
years ago and hasn't gained any of it back. I originally tried the products
before I had my second son and just used them for nutrition. Then after the
birth of my second son I needed to lose some weight and I lost 15 pounds of
fat - went from a size 12 to a size 4 in 4 weeks and am now continuing to
use them for the nutrition and to lose a few more inches. I also have joined
a gym to tone up. My husband lost 25 pounds in 5 1/2 weeks on the products
about a year ago and has kept it off. He also got rid of daily headaches and
chronic insomnia. But you're probably all right. We should have scooped up
the dog poop outside instead and would have had the same results. If any of
you did an ounce of research into the science behind these products and the
credentials of the people who are overseeing the efficacy and safety of
them, you might sound even vaguely like you know what you're talking about.
But, frankly, since I don't have anything to sell you -- and now I don't
even care about helping you -- it makes no difference to me what you think
or how you feed your bodies. You'll all find out eventually what you're
doing to your bodies anyway.

I thought it would be fun and interesting to join an online group. What a
waste of time.

How do I find that group to see for myself what you're telling me? When I go
he http://www.ibiblio.org/usenet-i/hier-s/biz.html I don't see it. I'm a
little new at this, how do I find that group?

Goodbye. Sorry it did not work out.

You did however post "business opportunities" to biz.misc, no one made
it up.

Thanks for the info. I admit, that does look a lot like me (except for the
ages of the kids). This is one of those times it's handy to have a lawyer in
the family! :-)

Yep it does look a lot like you.......right down to the IP address.
You don't know much about computers do you? An IP address is a number that's
assigned to a specific computer each time it accesses the internet.
