Default Nutritionist Visit No. 18 - Signed Up for Another Hitch

Great job, Mary. I recently got into the 140's, so I know how you feel. It
is really exhilarating. I'm at 147 right now. I've lost 75 lbs. so far.

I was noticing today that my DL picture was taken in February when I was at
200 lbs. I can't believe the difference in my face. I don't even look like
the same person anymore.

skin will recover) -- or going under the knife (eek).

Normally I'd suggest waiting at least a year. But since you'd already
lost half your weight before you lost this last 77 pounds, you have
some "history" in the skin department. Some things to look at are,
what did your skin do the last time?: Did you have a lot of excess
then? Did it shrink a lot? Some? Not at all?

If you had good success with the skin getting back to normal, or
something close, the last time, you'll probably get a lot of shrinkage
this time too. If you didn't, and now you're swimming in the stuff,
then there's probably no reason to wait.

But if it was me, these are the things I would look at.

A lot of this is genetic. I was lucky and had no skin problems, I'm
sure that some of this was due to genetics, and the rest to the fact
that I was only at my highest weight for 3 or 4 years.

Anyway, before considering the surgery, savor the victory for a while
first!

This morning on my scale, I saw a "decade" I haven't seen since grade school -- the
140s! I was 149.5 this morning and was really whooping it up. I've upped my final
goal number from 140 to 145 because I think I might be satisfied with 145 --

Thanks to everyone for your replies and support! I'll just answer specific
questions/comments in this one post,in the interest of saving space.

Perple Glow -- I follow a nutrition-pyramid-based diet -- sort of like an "exchanges"
diet -- so many protein, carb, fruit, etc. allowed a day, and unlimited vegetables. A
one-hour walk every day, weight training 3-4 days a week. These photos are a little
outdated, but give a good enough sense -- I'm down a size or two from these.

Barbara -- you are right about enjoying my current state before making this important
decision -- trying to think what happened with my skin when I lost the 100! I guess
it did shrink down appreciably, since I don't have *that* much excess skin -- so
maybe my chances are better than I think -- and at least my body deserves the chance
to try on my own. If that doesn't work, then I'll revisit.

Thanks again to everyone else who replied for helping me celebrate this new "verging
on maintenance" experience! Your support always means a lot to me!

Mary

Hi, everyone!

This morning on my scale, I saw a "decade" I haven't seen since grade

school -- the
140s! I was 149.5 this morning and was really whooping it up. I've upped

my final
goal number from 140 to 145 because I think I might be satisfied with

145 -- we'll
see when I get there, but I really don't want my face/neck to get any

thinner --
though I'd welcome it in my hips and stomach! :-)

Saw my nutritionist yesterday for visit no. 18, which wraps up my second

nine-visit
term. He was really really complimentary and wonderful, even though I

didn't do so
great last month (eating too many big dinners out and slightly

disregarding stricter
carb limits). I said "I really did terrible last month and I'll have a

better checkup
next time" -- and he stopped me, saying "No negative talk about my

beautiful Mary!"
(I wish everyone could go to this guy, LOL.) He said I have achieved the

dream of 120
million American women -- and he has only the utmost respect for me and

what I've
been able to do. (I told him that to me, he is practically a deity, LOL.)

For the first time, he started talking about maintenance instead of

further loss! I
don't think he realized that I had full intentions of signing up for

another nine
visits, because he offered me another "final" visit for free. When I said

I wanted to
stay with him because I needed a period of help and accountability in

keeping it off,
he said he would still give me a free visit, and just tack it on to the

end of the
other nine visits. (He also gave me a nice discount off his usual price.)

His program
now has his clients doing the 9 visits in 7 months -- but he is going to

stretch out
my 10 visits over 14 months so that we can really get my maintenance

nailed down.

On another note, a local television station is doing a version of "extreme

makeovers"
that I might apply for to get rid of the excess skin. I keep going back

and forth on
"doing it myself" (continuing my efforts over the next year and waiting to

see if the
skin will recover) -- or going under the knife (eek). The surgeon they're

using is
the one I had tentatively chosen of the three I visited -- and it would be

free -- so
that's very tempting. I may just apply for the hell of it -- I can always

say no if I
change my mind, I guess. OK, enough rambling -- here are this month's

results.

May 7: 45.3%
