How much calories per day?
Hi everybody
I have a question. I am 10kg overweight (not sure how much that is inpounds). Approximately what is the minimum, and recommended amount of calories that I should eat in a day? Let's say I don't do any excerice. A normal day (without watching what I eat) gives me 3500 cals, so I realise I have to do much less. How exactly how much without threatening my health? Thanks again for all the great advice! JS |

JS Many people start with 10 x current weight (in pounds) for weight loss. If this doesn't work or you're losing too much in a week then adjust it accordingly. Here's a calculator for converting kilograms to pounds. http://www.manuelsweb.com/kg_lbs.htm Beverly |

I have to admit, I had lots of coffee with 2 sugars (cutting on sugar
tomorrow) and we had ice cream at work, so today is a bit of an exception. I am 20 lbs overweight (10kg). I do feel that there is hope for me! :-) Thanks again for the advice JS "Ignoramus350" wrote in message ... In article , JS wrote: Hi everybody I have a question. If you know, for sure, that you maintain your current weight on 3500 calories per day (sounds pretty impossible if you are only 10 lbs overweight), try eating less by 700-1000 calories... i |

I easily made that change. My hang-up now is that I still put cream in my coffee and my calorie budget can't handle it. There's always something to tweak! Dally 244/175/168 |

Some of it depends, male or female, age, how tall you are. It's very hard to lose weight if you don't exercise. Next to impossible if you're female and don't exercise. If you reduce calories, lose weight, and don't exercise, you will lose a disproportionate amount of lean body mass. This will result in a lower body weight with a high fat mass, and a lower metabolic rate than you started out with. Outcome is that you'll have a very hard time maintaining. Assuming that you are now weight stable with 3500 k/cal, how about reducing that to 3000 k/cal and walking 2 miles per day? It's only going to take you 30 minutes to walk the two miles, and you'll be much more likely to keep the weight off. Just a thought.
