Default Fiber

Since (if I understand correctly) you subtract grams of fiber from grams
of carbs is is ok to have some supplementary fiber you can get in pills
from pharmacy?

Sure, any fiber is likely good. However, since fiber is carbs
you can not subtract the fiber
suppliment from your other carbs, they have a net balance of 0
Effective Carbs..

Example food:
Total Carbs 10
Fiber 5
---------------------
Effective Carbs 5

Fiber Supplement:
Total Carbs 5
Fiber 5
---------------------
Effective Carbs 0

In general, a fiber supplement is a good idea IF YOU NEED IT, and
taking one has pretty much no effect on your LCing. I.e. if you take
it, just ignore it when computing daily carbs. It neither counts
against your daily limit, nor negates other carbs.

Note that this assumes your fiber supplement uses an artificial
sweetener, and not real sugar, to make it palatable. Check the label
like any other food. If the total carbs are accounted for in the
fiber counts, you're all set.

DJ,

How about fiber pills/capsules? Which is better, pills or powdered stuff,
assuming you don't get enough fiber from the food you eat

You have to take a lot of capsules to get the fiber in a spoonful of the
powder, much more expensive in capsules, too.

I have no experience with the pills; I suspect they could get by
without artificial flavorings at all. I've gotten used to the powder.
Also, compare the amount of fiber you get from each.

Why? There is something else in the capsules?
