Default My City is on fire/OT

Hello All,
Things are a little tense here in So. Cal. I live in Simi Valley and
am surrounded by fire. My neighborhood has not been threatened until
now. The fire is about 5 miles away, but could be at my hills at any
time due to the winds. We are on standby for evacuation. The eating
has been a little skewed, but not too out of line. I am finding that I
am feeling more guilt and far less pleasure at an unplanned
indulgence. We were camping this weekend and had to cut our trip short
due to the fires. We were delayed coming home because of route
closures, and my whole party was eating donuts! I wanted to join in,
but could not bring myself to use my weakness as an excuse. So, bags
are by the door just in case, but I am definitely on track with eating
today! Will keep you posted!
Blessings to all,
Jeano

I was watching this fire on the news, Jeano. How awful. Sending you
strength and good vibes to cope with all the uncertainty.

Gee, Jeano, I hope you stay safe without evacuating. Another net
friend in Simi Valley says she is out of danger for now, and I
hope that is the case for you, too.

If a major fire was threatening my home, I wonder if I would be sitting on a
computer writing to a NG?

Well, let's hope you're never in that situation.

The fires are pretty much everywhere. There's not much one can do but
make sure there's a plan in place and then sit around and wait and see
where it spreads. I doubt the O.P. has the fire lapping at her door
and was sitting around on the computer. Add the fire situation to the
grocery strike and the MTA strike, and things are a bit crazy out here
on the left coast.

I've kown a few who have had to evacuate, but that was about as close
as I got to it until last night, when I noticed that the horizon was
orange. Which it sometimes is, at sunset. But it was midnight. So
you hop online, check out the latest predictions on where it's going
to head and what they're doing, and then you just...wait.

Fortunately, by one AM the orange had subsided and big white clouds of
smoke were forming, all good signs. So we went to bed.

Cheers,
Nina
