I'm planning on joining WW, I've tried dieting on my own and am very
unsuccessful. I have PCOS, many women with it have successfully lost weight
with a low carb diet. On the WW website I noticed that they listed a higher
protien option. Is anyone on that? I'd appreciate a brief description, or
any other input/advice. Thank you!

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome http://www.pcos.net/whatis.html The root of
PCOS is an inability to respond properly to insulin. Some believe that a
low-carb diet helps relieve many of the symptoms.

Welcome Shannon! I can't help you since I 'm on the European WW programme.
But I have seen it mentioned on this group recently : a booklet was handed
out at the meetings with some low carb-high protein options I think.

Shannon, I just noticed Laura 's post, it might interest you. Have a look at
a URL posted by Laura, the title of her post is "WW Pamphlet : the truth
about carbs".
Hope it helps!

Welcome,

I can't really answer your question, but do know that many women on the WW
chat boards are following WW and combining it with the South Beach diet.
(high protein, low carbs) You might find this a good mix for you.

Hi Shannon, I was diagnosed with PCOS in October '98. (I'm being reassessed
now, as it seems that I may not have it anymore!) Anyway, I have always done
WW with a balanced diet, including good carbs such as oatmeal, whole wheat
breads and pasta, and fruit & veg, and I have done pretty well. I do find
that I eat less bread and pasta these days, but more because I don't want to
spend the points on them. But WW is definitely the way to go! Hope this
helps!

I tried losing on my own before joining WW and I lost about 14 pounds. I
have lost an additional 62.8 on WW. I love it and it has worked for me. I
am a slow loser and thought I couldn't lose at all. Now that I am using WW
the weight is coming off and I am no longer hungry all the time. I
discovered that one of the reasons I was not losing is that not only was I
eating the wrong foods I was not eating nearly enough. Good luck and keep
us posted as to your progress, Lee
