Have low carb diets worked long term for Anyone?

I just realized that last December, I was 232 lbs, which was down 33
from my start point. So, as I come to this December, weighing in at
under 210, I will have a year of maintaining 30+ lbs weight loss, and
be up for the National Weight Control Registry. On an average flow,
I was gaining at about 5 a year, so very far ahead of the curve. But
I wasn't gaining steadily. It was more as Taubes describes, a chunk
here and a chunk there.

I dropped 100 pounds 4 years ago and have used this low-carb way of
eating to maintain the weight loss since then. Yes, all of it. My
weight bounces around a bit, both up and down, but my average weight
hasn't varied too much since I took the weight off to begin with.

I still exercise quite a bit, and I do avoid overeating--I'm certainly
not immune to gaining all the weight back again--but I believe that 4
years is a pretty good start to convincing myself that it works long term.

yes, and I usually take Saturday off every two weeks and carb out, sometimes
Friday and Saturday turn into indulgence days then back on the wagon. Its
the only way I can keep focussed but it still keeps the weight off.

Why Do People Diet?
People diet for many reasons. Some are at an unhealthy weight and need
to pay closer attention to their eating and exercise habits. Some play
sports and want to be in top physical condition. Others may think they
would look and feel better if they lost a few pounds.

As long as you plan to follow it for the long term. Just like
changing to any different WOE, it will only keep working if you keep
doing it.

If I am driving down a nice straight road, and everything is groovy,
and I veer to the left or the right too much, I will go off the road.
Therefore, I choose to stay driving straight in order to get the same
result I like and want.
