to save room and make it easier, get that watermelon and go ahead and cut it

small watermelon in the USA - they are only slightly larger than a large

pineapple, nectarines, plums, cherries, peaches and

strawberries.........in
the winter I get locked into a routine of about 5 apples a

Eddie,

The rind is what takes up the space, you can take a melon baller, or slice
up the watermelon into chunks and keep it in a Tupperware/Rubbermaid type

of
container, it keeps about a week that way and takes up a lot less room in
the fridge.

Yes , it does, as I don't care for watermelon but my daughter does, this is
what she did when she was away at college in her tiny apartment that she
rented on campus.

She also said that the cantaloupe gets sweeter after a few days too when
done this way.

Maybe ours are fresher here, since they are grown in the area. I know where
I live they grow all kinds of melons,I used to do books for a
watermelon/pumpkin grower. There are also apples, grapes, asparagus,
potatoes, strawberries, I think if it grows here someone has a crop of it.
Lettuce is grown only a couple of hours away from here. So everything is
really fresh and not transported very far.

I got a Dulcinea watermelon yesterday and cut it up for a dinner party I was
having last night, I was amazed that not too many people ate it, and still
have over 3/4 of it left over. I figured it would have gone quick with our
100+ degree heat wave we are having.
