well....crap.
Convinced the battery in my scale was surely dying, I replaced it. Then
I dragged the damn thing all over the floor to find the "right" spot, the spot where the numbers would read, "190". Inagine my dismay to finally come to grips with the hard fact----only one pound gone in a week. AAAAAGGGGHHHHH. OK. Life is full of dissapointments. I warched "Hud" on TV this morning....and a least I didnt have to shoot all my cattle due to Hoof and Mouth disease....so, things could be worse. Now....my thinking was...."as long as I keep it to 20 carbs a day, it shouldnt matter where those carbs came from." Evidentally.....this is not true. If I've learned anything this week, it's this: Ya cant drink a liter of wine a day and lose weight. But what I want to know is.....WHY? why are wine carbs dfferent from food carbs? Where did my logic err? What exactly is it that makes this happen? Does alcohol....stop ketosis? Or...what? Of course, I also did O exercise this week. There is no such thing as a Free Lunch. Nor a "get out of jail free" card. Do NOT pass GO. Do not collect $200. Color me bummed. sigh. Is there anything worse than the knowledge, "I did this to myself"? Thanks for the helpful comment, Marsha. No, I didnt read the book at
all. or any other book, actually, since about 1980. I did order it on tape, however and am expecting it pretty much any time now. The Library for the Blind has 11 copies---all were "out". LassChance Start LC~5-16-05 202-194-165 (i only weigh on Sunday) |

LassChance You were given a link to the Atkins site a few weeks ago, which gives a list of approved items. I'm assuming since you can read the newsgroup, you can also read that site. If not, my apologies. Aside from that, a bottle of wine per day would qualify you as an alcoholic. You responded to a post back in May that you only wanted a drink when you were hungry, but then that "led you to another" and so on. You shouldn't be getting hungry on induction, and most of your carbs should be coming from vegetables. Marsha/Ohio |

A standard bottle of wine is only 750ml so if she's drinking a litre a day,
that's a bottle and a quarter. As the standard serving for wine is 3.5 oz, a litre a day is almost 10 drinks. on Sun, 05 Jun 2005 18:13:10 -0400, Marsha wrote: Aside from that, a bottle of wine per day would qualify you as an alcoholic. ----- Bev |

What I did see was someone excpress their particular lifestyle. We all have different ways of living, and focusing on a WOE may not be prevalent for some. There are about ten zillion factors that make us each unique, and I have my faults like anyoe else. I just don't like the idea of getting judgemental about anyone. Just me! |

"There are about ten zillion factors that
make us each unique,....."~Jim Amen. One of mine is, I dont deal well with "should". Im too old, too tough and been paying my own rent way too damn long to be told "should" by anydamnbody. Im ok with, "what works is..." or "what doesnt work is...." but "should" is like a red cape to a cross-eyed bull. Jesus Christ has my permission to say 'should" to me, or his Old Man. Anybody short of that.... tell it to the hand. (or, BIOYA, to borrow a term!) LassChance Start LC~5-16-05 202-194-165 (i only weigh on Sunday) |

Guess I'm thick-headed, I didn't actually see any sarcasm there. lol What I did see was someone excpress their particular lifestyle. We all have different ways of living, and focusing on a WOE may not be prevalent for some. OP -asked- for advice, then was given advice by several people (on the alcohol, on where to go for general guidelines until she could get the book, on how to do induction in general, etc.). She didn't follow the advice, -and- is now expressing a bit of surprise over the results. So yeah, people are naturally going to comment a bit. There are about ten zillion factors that make us each unique, and I have my faults like anyoe else. I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. I'll need to make the check out to 'I'm OK, You're OK' Enterprises, right? I just don't like the idea of getting judgemental about anyone. Does simply stating the facts equal "judgmental" to you? If so, tfb. This is ASDLC, not ASDLC kumbaya. Just me! Me too. Wheeeee! Help me out with something here. In one post, you're touting JC as the man, then a few posts later, you're schoolmarming Marcia for telling it like it is. (not that I have a problem with either one of them...) What gives? It's the sunglasses, right? |

Not only does a liter of red wine have around 720 calories, white around 680 (give or take) those calories are burned before anything else. So while you're burning alcohol calories you aren't burning fat. -- Jeri "Change is inevitable, except from vending machines." |
