Really?....Just more proof that a lot of folks think of diet just as they
think of religion.

Just as an observation, the word 'religion' in this usage sadly seems to
have taken on a somewhat negative connotation. It seems to be used when
someone has a passionate, perhaps excessive devotion to something and is
eager to proselytize (evangelize), regardless of the receptiveness of the
audience. "Running is his religion" "Vegetarianism is her religion"

I don't think low carb is for everyone, some ppl do well on low fat,

I see it the same way. My house is full of junk food, carby foods, and
I even cook carby foods myself (for others). I simply do not eat what
I choose not to eat. Tolerance of others' food preference is greatly
important in maintaining good relationships.

Wow. You are sure a lot tougher than I am. I don't think I could have
managed those first few months in a house full of junk food. Now I
wouldn't have a problem with it, but early on it would have made it a LOT
harder for me, to the point where I don't know if I could have succeeded.

The same here. I got rid of everything I didn't want to eat, and I still
follow that principle.

There is absolutely nothing brilliant about some idiot loading up
manufactured foods with sugars like high-fructose corn syrup. It ain't
brilliance, it's unadulterated greed.

Hehe. I'll bet that before if you had a plate of fries and a coke, and
then a bowl of ice cream, nobody would have said, "You better not eat that,
it'll kill ya." If you have a plain piece of steak and plate of veggies,
everybody thinks your eating properly, just don't call it "lo-carb" eating,
or Atkins'.

Lol. My first marriage was with someone who was very much like me. We
loved each other dearly and still do, but I've found life a lot easier
and gentler with someone who is is my exact opposite in many ways. As
the years go by we seem to be both heading somewhere toward the middle
as we learn from each other.

As for food, he can eat anything he wants, but it feels very supportive
that he's considerate about it. He doesn't have much of a sweet
tooth, but he likes salty carbs and I don't buy them. We've had lots of
talks along the lines of, "Will this bother you?" or, "Would it be
better if I....?" He's been known to go out at odd hours like I was
pregnant to find meat or cheese, etc., lol.

I've found it doesn't bother me what eats when we're out (and he eats
lunch out every day) but we've gotten into the habit of simple grilled
meat and salad type meals at home most nights. I've accused him of
having a secret stash and he only smiles mysteriously. He has a
workshop in the cellar and I fully expect to see him emerge one day with
potato chip crumbs all over his chest or some such one day .

My turn to LOL! My skinny brother has his 'guy pantry' in his shop,
complete with an old fridge. It's usually well-stocked with stuff that he
knows his wife loves and fights to stay away from.
