steak!
I don't eat steak very often, but I was in Sam's club and they had some
ribeyes on sale. I fired up the charcoal grill this afternoon and seared them Pittsburgh style* to med-rare. I gotta tell you steak is so damn good! I wish it was cheaper, but I find that the junk I see on sale in some supermarkets is pretty bad. These cuts look very close to Prime. Nice marble. I just had to share my steak experience with someone! Curt -- Started low carb May '03 this time. 211/189/180 . . 6'2" Age 38 Highest weight 250 5+ years ago |

You have to go a long way to beat a good ribeye! I do find that I can get away with cheaper cuts if I take the trouble to marinade them for a day or so prior to BBQ -- my marinade consists of soy sauce and lemon juice. I wet the raw meat with it, then grind pepper on top, then sprinkle it with garlic powder. I then pierce the steak all over with a couple of forks, and do both sides. I then wrap the steaks in foil and turn a few times over the next say or so until the BBQ. They come out very tender. Served with Iron City beer? -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply A Pittsburgh steak is burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. Iron City Beer.... lol That is all I need to have. It has been 9 days I think since I had a beer. I may have one or two this weekend if I am 185 or less, but I am only allowed one day of that and it is back on the plan. I feel like I am dropping weight pretty fast and one day a week won't be a big deal. I have done that before. Curt |

I do think that drinking sometimes is beneficial -- it can get me to relax (assuming I don't drink too much). But, it also causes me to overeat, so I try to not drink that often. -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply |

Thanks, Curt I'd be careful about marinating anything in aluminum foil. You may cause some aluminum to leach into the food. I marinate mine in a pyrex or glass baking dish or bowl. TC |
