Food & Exercise -- 7/21/2007 (yesterday)
Yesterday I spent the day working at the Atlantic Seaboard Wine
Competition. I worked as a table steward, which basically meant serving the judges at my table all the correct wines, correctly labelled, in each flight; distributing, collecting, and checking evaluation forms; ensuring the judges had other needed items; etc. In the afternoon I also helped out a lot with the Cellar Steward job -- getting all the glasses tagged, wines poured, and placed on the serving carts (we served about 350 glasses of wine to our table throughout the day). {Our table's Cellar Steward had a horrible thing happen at the end of the morning -- got a phone call that his girlfriend had been killed in a car accident -- so of course he left immediately and the rest of us filled in with his job.} Food: * 6:15 (home): 2 eggs, scrambled * 8:00 (competition): 1 sweet roll * 10:30 (competition): another sweet roll {Today I've eaten more in the morning -- I got too hungry during the morning yesterday. And they had nothing else available to eat (other than the judges water crackers, anyway).} * 12:30 (competition lunch): salad w/ raspberry vinaigrette; grilled squash; small piece of pork w/ gravy; small serving of wild rice; cherry cobbler * 3:30 (end of the day at the competition): roughly 1 small glass of wine total -- actually small tastes of 4 or 5 wines that were gold medal winners * 6:30 (home): oatmeal w/ peanut butter, flax seed, & chopped dates {I wasn't feeling well during the afternoon or evening, and didn't feel like real dinner I hadn' t slept much the night before, and was shaken up by the tragic event of the morning. I went to bed very early last night.} Exercise: None of significance -- but a fair bit of running around Chris 262/130s/130s |
