Common Question . . .
I know this is a question that you guys will probably be asked a lot, but I
need to know this. From websites I have read, it seems that my 'ideal' weight (as a 5' 9" 21 year old male) should be around 145 lb, give or take 10%. Now, I currently weigh 194 lb (Down from 204 lb!) and my target at the moment is 165lb. But I really can't see myself going lower than 165 lb. Most charts I have seen would have 165 lb in the slightly overweight category - what is the consensus? I am QUITE broad, but certainly not the broadest of people about . . . MadJock 204/194/165 |

General consensus is - those charts are crap. If you are healthy at 165 and you are happy with your looks there, then I can't see why it wouldn't be a problem staying there. For what its worth, my BF is 5-10 and is 160 and looks good. If he wanted to get really cut he could cut more, but when I met him he as really buff and at 175. Totally ripped in the chest, arms, back and abs. That was after a serious attempt at bulking and musclebuilding that he and a buddy went through. And he will be the first to attest that it was HARD to keep that up. He still works out and eats pretty well, but has lost most the bulk and settled in at the low 160 range. he certainly isn't overweight by any means either. |

Common Question . . .
Alot of those charts don't take into account muscle mass and body frame
size... check out this link: http://www.1is2fat.com/body_frame.htm -- Email me at: perpleglow(AT)comcast.net "MadJock" wrote in message ... Common Question . . .
People your weight and height and look massively different. If you do
any kind of resistance training, throw out all charts. Your best bet would be to get your bodyfat percentage checked if you're concerned about your weight. 15% or less and you're certainly fine... at least from a health perspective AL "MadJock" wrote in message ... Common Question . . .
Thanks guys. I feel like I have a better understanding of it now. I'll
just keep my current target and when (not if) I reach it, I'll think about it some more. Thinking about getting one of those bodyfat scales though . . .. Ṃran taing Many thanks MadJock 204/192/165 "MadJock" wrote in message ... I know this is a question that you guys will probably be asked a lot, but I need to know this. Common Question . . .
what a pleasant subject to think about... What do you mean?? there are certain measurements that you can take (wrist circumference or some such) that could give an indication if you are "naturally" broad and "big boned". try googling for it. Will do. As for what your target weight should be, I also spent a while thinking about it. WHen I started, I could not see myself going below 190 as I thought that it was my "natural weight". Now I am 176 and I can see that I am not loooking gaunt or malnourished and in fact could safely lose maybe 7-10 more pounds, not that it is my goal now. You will feel like you are in heavens when you get to 165 lbs. And then you can look in the mirror and decide if you need to lose more. Much the same as what everyone else has said . . . thanks MadJock 204/194/165 MadJock 204/190/165 |
