Getting rid of the caffeine addiction
I have had high blood pressure since I became pregnant with my first
child. That was 26 years ago. Prior to that I used to drink a lot of coffee and caffeinated tea. I was drinking diet soda at the time. I trained myself to drink coffee just for breakfast and in the afternoon. Then slowly I weaned off the must have morning coffee to tea in the morning and coffee on weekends. The afternoon cup became a cup of tea and now de-caf tea. My daily soda is caffeine free. It is just like working through a food or other addiction. You need to start slowly and figure out how to make it work for you. When I was in college I drank 12-15 cups a day so I know what it's like to be addicted to caffeine. I enjoy a good cup of coffee. It just doesn't make sense to have a lot of it when I am dealing with the blood pressure problem. Audrey |

Getting rid of the caffeine addiction

So, I just stopped keeping it in the house. If I really want one, I go get one around lunchtime. But to do that I have to pack my two kids in the car, go somewhere and get one. I can't go to a drive thru because then the kids want junk food. So the only place I go is Quik Trip. Trust me, it's no fun taking two boys under 4 into a convenience store. So, I'm down to around 3 liters a week. Not too bad after just about 4 weeks! lucy |

The good news is that it's a lot easier than losing weight. If you have your weight under control (or even if you don't) you should seriously think about stopping sooner rather than later. It just doesn't make sense to have a lot of it when I am dealing with the blood pressure problem. Audrey I tried Atkins about two years ago and had to quit my Pepsi addiction when I went on it. Had some pretty bad withdrawls but in the end I kick the Pepsi habbit. Unfortunately couldn't stick with the diet. Too extreme. Before I started WW almost 3 weeks ago I was back up to 3-4 cans of Pepsi a day. Starting WW meant quitting Pepsi again. I thought about supplementing with Diet Pepsi, but as it turned out I didn't need it. I have the occasional Diet Pepsi, maybe 2 or 3 a week, but cold turkey worked for me this time without any problems. I'm sure my blood sugar is thanking me too. I just figured, as long as I was changing my lifestyle anyway... ----------------------------------------------------- | *Bazooka-Joe* | | | | 232.2 / 220.4 / 209(WW) / 32" waiste (Personal) | ----------------------------------------------------- |

Getting rid of the caffeine addiction
I appreciate the thought but think smoking will be much harder than weight,
I never considered hurting anyone to get food, Lee rmr wrote in message ...
