Dr. Phil's Book "The Ultimate Weight Solution"
Hello everyone,
Just curious if anyone out there has read The Ultimate Weight Solution by Dr. Phil McGraw? I received mine in the mail yesterday and am hooked at his outlook on obesity and how to overcome and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I've never been one to read self help books and such, but I'm a big believer now. I think the book makes you look at patterns we have taught ourselves and to step back and paint a picture of what we want to obtain (being realistic) as far as weight goes. He also put a more realistic weight scale in the book as compared to the ones that medical doctors use that tell what we should weigh. It also takes in to condition your body type..for example I consider myself big boned, bigger chest/rib cage than a lot of men my height. I'm 71" or 5'11" and Dr. Phil's weight table say that a more realistic scale for myself is 173 small frame -192 middle frame -211 large frame. This is about 12 pounds heavier than what most sources tell me I should weigh. Dr. Phil says that the old standards are really OLD and that we as people are healthier compared to the people back when the old scales were made and so the weight standards should have shifted a bit. Anyway, if you've considered buying it, but haven't I would recommend to anyone with weight issues. If you have a negative outlook on this type learning then don't buy it. I have been skeptical to things I didn't really understand, but I have a great feeling about this book. I couldn't put it down last night and expect to have it finished in 10 to 14 days. Please don't take this as a sales pitch. I don't know Dr. Phil personally and am not making any money stating how I feel about his book. I just wanted to share with you fine folks something that sparked an interest in me an hope I can help someone else by recommending reading his book. Take care, Paul 300/245/175 |

Dr. Phil's Book "The Ultimate Weight Solution"
I'm so glad to hear another positive review of Dr Phil's book. I think it is
really great.I think it covers a lot of problems that we obese people have. And I hope people will really read it and try to do his programs, whether or not they follow his diet. The diet is just the usual low fat, low calories diet, like so many others. He doesn't call it a diet though???? I think a lot of people will get a lot of good out of this book if they will just study it. The last 2 1/2 yrs, I have lost 130 lbs by low calorie dieting. But I never worked through the reasons I was obese most of my life, nor worked out how to replace bad habits with good ones. It really helped me to get myself to moving again and to get this last 20 lbs off. And I think the chapter on Healing Hurt Feelings was really good. No, I'm not connected with the sale of the book or anything else either. I just think it is very good and will be very helpful to a lot of people. It is deep reading. It delves deep into the psyche. And gives ways of digging out of problems. Beverly Banks |

Dr. Phil's Book "The Ultimate Weight Solution"
Thanks Beverly,
Your input is deeply appreciated. I love the book and am still reading it. My experience is that some people don't seem to like Dr. Phil or taking advice from a Psychologist one. Anyway, I agree with so much I've read and really find his writing easy to understand and refreshing. It's no secret that our country is one of the fattest, unhealthy, nations in the world. I also think it's hard for some obese people to come to terms with the fact that it is their eating habits causing this problem. I've seen documentaries where an obese person says they don't eat much, but when a camera follows them they are in fast food joints three times a day, or their portions are calorically enough for 3 to 4 people. All the fast food joints don't help, but ultimately it comes down to the responsibility of the consumer. Anyway, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to lose weight or get healthy, especially those who have tried diet after diet and can't seem to find the right path for them or those considering lap band or gastric bypass surgery. Take care, Paul 300/245/175 "BANBEVER" wrote in message ... I'm so glad to hear another positive review of Dr Phil's book.
