Default My Food Journal to the Rescue!

Hi all -- these past few weeks (since Thanksgiving, really) have been quite careless
on the eating front. In fact on Tuesday I bit the bullet and got on the scale (which
I had been avoiding) and it said 156. Eeek! (My previous low had been 149 but that
didn't last long.) Mind you, I have not been gorging -- just extra mindless snacking
on crackers, pretzels, nuts, etc. -- and the worst, sugarfree chocolate (the worst,
that is, as a sign of my food plan going south). So I said to myself -- "I lost
during Christmas last year, so what is different?" The answer was that I'm not
keeping a daily food journal like I was last year.

It was astounding how quickly it got me back on track. I stuck to my food plan
through a big dinner Tuesday night, dinner yesterday-- and I expect to do well at
more events coming up. Getting back to drinking 8-10 glasses of water was a big part
of it -- I feel like I completely flushed my system out (10 glasses of water on
Tues., 15 glasses on Wed. and 8 yesterday) -- and as of today I am back down to 151.
I want to lose 4 more before my upcoming nutritionist appointment on Jan. 8 because I
was 150 at last visit and I want a loss, not a gain. Now that the water weight is
gone, it will be tougher, but I am definitely going to do my best.

The first day of getting back to my food journal was the hardest. I have stickers I
made with check boxes for each of the food group servings I can have per day-- and
seeing just how quickly I checked off my 4 carb servings made me realize I have been
going way overboard on those. So I just made a big pan of turkey meatballs and I've
got baked chicken in the fridge -- and that will help make it easier to stay on plan.

I hope everyone here had a nice Christmas / Hanukkah ... and I will be checking in
more often to help keep on track.
