Target Points
How do you figure out your initial target points. For example if you
want to lose 25lbs and you BMI is 25, where would you start? I have a chart that shows points for each weight level, but I assume that is a maintenance level? |

Target Points
Your target is based on your weight. If you tell us that, we can tell you
how many points. Target Points
Now 5'10" 180lbs, target of 165. According to the chart I found on
www.getting2goal.com, my daily points should be around 23 (it shows a range of 22-27 points for a weight range of 175-199) . I assume, however, that is a maintenance level - I want to know how many points to start out at in order to lose 25 lbs. No, that range is not for maintanence ... that range is actually for weightloss.
Those of us in maintenance have to add points to the range to find where we will hold steady. The US has switched programs, now you have one specific point target (in the range you specify it would be 24). In addition to the 24 minimum daily points, you are also allowed 35 additional flex points to use as you wish over the course of the week. Divvy 'em up and use 'em daily, or use all at once if you have a special event or dining out. You also can earn activity points daily (through exercise) - these can be used during that same day. Beware though. When you reach 175 pounds, your target point amount will change to 22 (flexpoints remain the same). Target Points
The next weight range below mine in shown in the chart I have as
150-174lbs and 20-25 daily points. If you have to drop to 22 points at 175, what do use for a point count when you are at 170 and then at 165? It doesn't seem to be a linear calculation where you can just interpolate. Know where I can find out how much an hour's walk gets you in activity points? 1, I hope? I'm very impressed with your weight loss stats. 95lbs is a big number, especially in 14 months. I hope you feel quite proud of yourself, in addition to feeling good. Target Points
Ah, hang around here and you will learn it all . As I approached each new
weight range I usually would drop a point before I got there? Then the other one after. It is very easy to see when you need to drop a point however, because your weight loss will kind of dwindle a bit. Over this last time I have done WW, I averaged a little over a pound a week. MANY weeks I lost 2, or 3 or even more once or twice. Many other weeks I lost a fraction, or gained one. One week I gained SIX! I could tell over time, since I kept my journal the entire time, about what point range was working for me with my level of activity (consistently high). I ate the high end of my points allowed all the time, and most of my activity points (usually 3 to 4 a day). I might have been able to take it off faster eating less, but I feel as if I have preserved most of the muscle mass that I started out with. So my metabolism is still pretty good, and I can maintain eating a decent satisfying diet. I would suggest you plan to lose it, keeping in mind that you will want it to Stay Gone Lesanne (365)top weight, '80's (247) feb 2002, 163.6 now 164 ww goal wrote in message ... Target Points
The weigh****chers weight ranges are set in 25 pound increments. If you weigh
125-149, your target point would be 20 ... 150-174 is 22, 175-199 is 24 and so on. The 35 flexpoints remain a constant, regardless as to what weight range you fall into. Until you hit maintenance anyway - then it seems that all the things you've figured out change (not due to ww, due to us trying to figure out how to stay where we are). You're activity points are also based on your weight. I use a computer calculator program that has been shared with this newsgroup. You can download it at http://www.xmission.com/~zythra/downloads/points.exe . Another good site is caloriesperhour.com . I figure roughly 100 calories burned = 1 point. And thank you! I am proud of myself for shedding the weight - when I started I honestly didn't think I had it in me to see it through. I probably shouldn't say this, but in all the time on ww it never really seemed like hard work to me. I could still eat the food I enjoyed, just had to learn proper portion sizes and self-control. I'm still learning the self-control. grin Joyce WW starting weight: 228.8 - 2/5/02 current weight: 133.3 Lifetime: 4/4/03 On Tue, 30 Sep 2003 21:13:43 GMT, wrote: The next weight range below mine in shown in the chart I have as 150-174lbs and 20-25 daily points.
