constantly hungry
I am on day 2 of induction and I am CONSTANTLY hungry! I don't remember
experiencing this last time I was on Atkins (a good couple of years ago). I ate a large meal consisting of a hamburger patty, 2 fried eggs and a couple of strips of bacon. I ate some fried mushrooms on the side, with a dallop of salsa. For lunch, I ate a spinach salad with a chopped egg, mozzerlla cheese and some scallops and shrimp cooked in olive oil and garlic. The salad was topped off with a very generous serving of oil and vinegar dressing (I used flax seed oil and white vinegar). Not much later, I am hungry again and ate a couple of ounces of cheese (which I plan to cut out altogether all of next week) and then a serving of cottage (which will usually satisfy me). Here I am at 4:19 pm and I am STILL hungry! Is it ok to eat so much? I know that we ought to eat until we are satisfied. However, I feel like I am OVEREATING and still not satisfied. I seem to remember that calories really do matter if they are overconsumed. The only thing I can think of right now (and this is a personal -and perhaps incorrect - theory) is that with high-carb consumption, I am used to things like rice and bread expanding in my stomache, causing a temporary fullness. I am not getting that now, so maybe I am trying to compensate? So is it ok to eat and eat like this until ketosis kicks in (and hopefully staves the hunger more efficiently)? I am not sure what I can consume in the meantime to feel full longer. Any suggestions? |

For now, don't worry about the calories...just watch the carbs. After a few days the hunger dies down. ~ ~ ~ ~ Sh0rtcircuit (Deb) Clean out the junk. Thanks for all of the advice. I will hang in there. I will not worry about
the calories for another day or so then. Hopefully it will all even out in the long run. As far as the water goes, I carry a bottle of the stuff everywhere I go :-) "Vic" wrote in message m... As far as the water goes, I carry a bottle of the stuff everywhere I go :-) Once you get 'over the hump' you won't be anywhere near as hungry as you *usually* are. Couple forkfuls at any mealtime, with a small between meal protein snack, does the trick for me now. I eat half what I used to at any one meal. |

Whenever I was about to lose a lot of weight, I'd be very hungry the day or so before. Maybe you're like me, and a whoosh is coming? It wouldn't surprise me at the beginning of Induction. As an aside that may or may not relate to your situation, now if I accidentally ingest gluten, or some other foods which include an odd assortment of additives such as carageenan, or hydrolyzed anything, I am starving for 24-36 hours. Through trial and error I've found that extra vitamin c helps me with this. Any suggestions? Drink plenty of water, take a good multivitamin, eat food that fits your plan every 2 hours if you need to, and find something fun to do so that you will be doing something you like rather than thinking about diet and food all day. In loving support, Bridget M. |

I was ravenous on induction. I ate piles of pepperoni and hard boiled
eggs. Disgusting amounts of the stuff. It will go away in a few days if you just stick to low-carb, when your biochemistry kicks over. -- As you accelerate your food, it takes exponentially more and more energy to increase its velocity, until you hit a limit at C. This energy has to come from somewhere; in this case, from the food's nutritional value. Thus, the faster the food is, the worse it gets. -- Mark Hughes, comprehending the taste of fast food |
