Saw Leo last night.....
......at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Great as always, playing his
6 and 12 string sig models with Sunrise pickups. I came to the conclusion that I *really* don't like the sound of magnetic pickups. JD |

On the lap band surgery, I hope you've researched the heck out of your surgeon. Surgery isn't the right answer for everyone, but I've seen it give people back their quality of life. I really hope it gives you what you're looking for out of it. Take care, Carmen |

I researched the livin' bejeezus out of the subject of weight loss surgery in general when my PCP at VA suggested it. As it turns out VA only does Roux-n-Y which is pretty barbaric and an idiotic alteration of perfectly functioning gut. I'm dropping my own dime on this lap band thing, there's a local surgeon that's done over 1000 of them and the result I've seen from the many patients he's done has been overwhelmingly positive. While low carbing has been by far the most effective diet, it just hasn't been enough. At 6' 320# I'm a far cry from the 180 I weighed when I got my jump wings. I've got enough of the co-morbidities going on (hypertension, cholesterol and dancing on the edge of diabetes) to make this a bit a bit of an urgency issue for me. I used to be a rabid skier and while my knees are still in good shape I'm not about to subject them to any stress while at this weight. How's Sarge? Did he get his Harley? I'm riding a big Honda ST1100 but with Aileen (5'9" 165#) aboard we exceed the rated payload capacity 45#. I'm not crazy about the way the bike handles when overloaded. JD |

Yeah like me? wink I did see a girl from Walmart pay like 30 grand out of pocket to have some high fluttin' Federal Way doc do her lap band in June of 2005. I saw her the other day and she has lost a whopping 30 pounds? Huh?? The tool she was given didnt help her at all. It has been said that of you have over 100lbs to lose lap band is not for you. If one has less than 100lbs IMHO its best to try to do it yourself. Then there are folks like me who needed to go to a drastic measure to get to their destination wheh they had 100's to lose Laureen 410/182/180 1 yr status RNY proximal/open A 4~ever low carb, low fat, low cal girl http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/freaki...hJ9gCBLmL1VUob Carmen wrote: JD wrote: JD wrote: .....at the Everett Performing Arts Center. Watkins and Montgomery have done ~1200 of these and have stopped doing RNY altogether. I don't know what the norm is overall but weight loss for patients at this clinic is routinely 150+lbs. I'm at 325 now and I'd be happy at 250; ecstatic at 200. By all indication from patients I've met at their support group, ecstacy is a slam dunk *and* a bargain at half what the gal from WallyWorld paid JD |

I do think she got ripped off. Or..... she out ate it and needs a fill
on her band. It's funny.. I have never gave a flying fleep what people had in their grocery carts but after looking at her horrid post surgical results I peeked. Eggo frozen waffles, Salisbury steak frozen dinners, novelty ice cream bars, Cheetos, bread, sugared cereal, granola bars, and boxed frozen breaded chicken tenders etc just aren't going to get her results. I have never gone to the store so much in my life as I do now, not only because I am up and super mobile now, but I shop the dairy section for cottage cheese, yogurt, and milk ( I have a 7 year old child) and the outer edges of the super market where the fresh meats, veggies and fruit are and they all spoil fast and need to be replenished. |

Congratulations on the continued wedded bliss. Marriage done right is wonderful :-) You really have done some homework on your surgery and surgeon, and it sounds like you've got an experienced one. I wish you the best of luck on it. Sarge doesn't have a Harley yet, he's been a busy guy. He (a few months back) got snagged by the MEB process when he came up on PCS orders and his permanent profile came up. It (the profile) didn't actually stop him from doing anything because he ignored it - had a special attachment made and re-learned to do pushups so he takes all three events on the PT test and more than passes it - but it triggered the MEB as a matter of regulation. He decided to fight it (he's got over 22 years in but he wants it to be *his* decision when to leave) and two weeks ago he got the good news. He's been found "Fit for Duty". Most of the amputees aren't getting that ruling, so it surprised the folks at the hospital Medical Hold company. In fact, things are geared so much towards MEBs ending up with the soldier being separated that they turn in all their gear to CIF and start clearing post and ACAPing while they're in Medical Hold waiting for the outcome of the MEB. Surprise, surprise surprise! They can just damn well reissue him his gear. G He's continued to check all clear on the cancer and things are good all around. They even took his Port-a-Cath out (the implant that the chemo drugs were given through, it had a line that ran into his heart and had to be flushed out once a month). Life is good! Carmen |
