Default Grills not so good, perhaps ?

For info purposes:
Article at site below, is a consumer report article and I have quoted
the last 3 paragraphs for your info. Its that last paragraph that
says just about everything. Perhaps I won't buy a grill afterall.

"""Again, the grills performed well — cooking the food evenly and
quickly. When the last chicken breast was done to a turn — the $40
Hamilton Beach Meal Maker Express came out on top. It can cook two
hamburgers in short order. Another plus — it's the only grill tested
that has removable plates you can put right in the dishwasher.

If you want a grill for even less, try The Champ from George Foreman.
It has fewer features, but at 25 dollars it's a great grill for the
money.

While some of these grills claim to cook leaner, healthier food by
draining off fat as they grill, don't count on it! Consumer Reports
tests show that there's no difference in the fat content of food
cooked on any of these electric grills and food cooked on a regular
skillet. The best way for you to prepare low-fat meals is to start
with low-fat foods. """

My Foreman grill's been in the garage for 2 years, for the taste.
It'll probably go to the MIL's next yard sale.

It was handy when we lived in an apartment and couldn't use a real grill.
It was passable for burgers and chicken breast and boneless pork chops,
though not as good as on the gas BBQ grill. But it made steak taste like
it was cooked in a frying pan at lowish heat -- BLEH! I went back to the
broiler (or the very hot cast iron skillet method once posted here,
which tasted great but smoked up the place).

I bought one, too, when everyone was raving about them and ended up giving
it to my grandson. Went back to my cast iron frying pan that I use for
almost everything. I didn't think it improved things at all and was awkward
to use. I have limited counter space and had to put it away in another room
when not using it. I keep the cast iron on the stove all the time.

If you are doing low-carb... why does that worry you?

The best reason for a grill... and I vote for the Hamilton Beach Meal
Maker Express as well, is the convenience! It make it so easy to cook
something nice and good for you rather than oh, cruising by the yellow
arches.
