Cleaning out the closet
Man I had a lot of REALLY big clothes ;-) I probably have about 80
shirts/pants/shorts that I'm going to give to some lucky Goodwill.. (unless anyone in Austin reads this and needs some XXL/size 42 stuff!) I love the casual chronology too...I'm lazy, so clothing items were pretty much in the same order today as they were many years back (even as we moved house to house!) It was funny/sad to see the progression from XXL to XL to L the further back I dug into the closet! Richard 287/250/250 247/180/175 |

Isn't it fun? I loved taking out the too big clothes and putting them in a
bag/cleaning out the closet. Actually I gave some to a friend who got pregnant and have a couple other bags to save for a another friend who says she wants to go on the Atkins diet and lose some weight. But, if she doesn't start soon, I'm going to find another home for the bags of clothes as I'm tired of looking at them! Becky P. |

Congrats, Richard - it must feel so good! I really wish I could say the
same! I've lost 30 lbs and lots of inches, but for some reason, I'm still in the same clothes. At 213 lbs I was a size 16/18, and I still am. My clothes fit me properly at 213 (no pulled seams, no popped buttons). Maybe I'm fooling myself, and I need to go shopping for a smaller size now? I've had one small victory of trying on a wool jacket from a few years back, stuck in the back of my closet because I couldn't do the bottom button (around my hips). I tried it on last week and it fit. The few times I have been shopping for a possibly smaller size I was really turned off by many of the same reasons as Michelle (Luna) posted recently...I won't wear super low-slung pants, I won't wear off-the-shoulder tops, I won't wear bare midriff t-shirts. I've never been one to wear tight clothes at all, even at my very thinnest. 30 pounds seems like a lot to lose, but maybe it really isn't so much spread out over nearly 6 feet of height on a woman. Also, kudos to you, Richard, for owning up to laziness. S t a c i 213/183/170 - 5'11" "RT" wrote in message ... Could be that. Could it be that your clothes have some stretch in them too? Or maybe they were too tight before. Oh, by the way, I was in the Gap the other day (they were having a huge sale, I usually can't afford anything in there) and I noticed particularly in the boot-cut jeans they had waist rises ranging from Super Low to At Waist. The ones that were "Just Below Waist" fit me the best, but were snug on the thighs. My thighs don't seem to be shrinking at all for quite a while now. The fat there is stubborn, and the muscles underneath are pretty big too since even at my heaviest I still did quite a bit of walking and standing up work. I'm sure in time they'll shrink a bit more with the rest of me, but they'll probably always be proportionally large since that's how almost every woman in my family is built regardless of overall size. -- Michelle Levin http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws. |

S t a c i 213/183/170 - 5'11" For what it's worth, I found a couple of shirts that STILL didn't fit...including one XXL that fit like a leotard ;-) Also, I lost almost all of my "size" vs. weight very late in the process. I think I was almost 40lbs down before I started to shift down in pants sizes. If you search the newsgroup you can probably find instances of me whining about :-) RIchard |

I did a sort of reality check after my first post, and took a good look at
some of my clothes. They weren't too tight before, and I think they are probably too big now, I just didn't notice because they were never form-fitting. Later that day, strangely enough, my husband commented on the fact that my jeans looked too big. He said they looked like horse-riding pants in the thighs. I just went to sizebase.com and updated my measurements - sure enough - it says that I'm a 12 on top and a 14 on bottom. I don't know how accurate these are, but they are smaller than I expected. If I'm still wearing 18s, my clothes probably do look too big. How accurate has sizebase.com proved to other folks?? Hmm...probably time to do some shopping. I'm waiting for the big moment when I'm down from Women's sizes to Misses' again. S t a c i "Luna" wrote in message ... In article , "S t a c i" wrote: Congrats, Richard - it must feel so good! Gap - Did you seek advice from one of those Jeans Fitting Advisor (or whatever) while you're there? I read it somewhere (fashiong mag) that they have them in some stores in UK, so I bet they must have them in the States too. You can book an appointment and they'll fit you with one of the styles they make (there're 8 of them apparently?). |

No, I just talked to a regular sales person, as far as I know. The only ones they have that appealed to me were the bootcut. He was pushing the "long and lean" jeans at me, probably because they weren't on sale, but I've tried them before and didn't like them. Thanks for the answer. Funny how all these jeans all got names. I was browsing a catalogue today and notice that a certain bra comes in two colors: chocolate (brown) or linen (ivory). Why can't they just say brown or ivory instead of calling it chocolate and linen????? |
