Carbs in Sweet'n'Low, Cream, Splenda, etc.
When you make jello and biscuits and pancakes you have to use more
than just a teaspoon or two of Sweet'n'Low, Cream, Splenda, etc. How many carbs are in a 1/4 cup of Sweet'n'Low? The manufacturer says there is .9 grams per packet, but they don't say how many are in larger quantities. Curiously, the website says the powder has dextrose in it to make it powdery,... that's why it has carbs,.. IT HAS SUGAR IN IT!!!!!! The liquid stuff has no carbs at all. How many carbs are in a cup of fluffy Splenda? Some places say a cup of the stuff has 24 grams of carbs. Is this true? How many carbs in heavy cream? The brand I like (Wal-mart) says on the side of the carton that there are ZERO carbs per tablespoon. Mathmatically, that would mean there are zero carbs in a millions gallons of the stuff as well, but that would be a little hard to believe. I would like to know what the carb count is in a cup of the stuff. Thanks for any info |

The cream info is from the USDA NAL data base. -- AF "Non Sequitur U has a really, really lousy debate team." --artyw raises the bar on rec.sport.baseball |

Thanks for any info- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Regarding the Splenda, the 24g carb per cup number can be calculated from Splenda's claim that a cup has 96 calories. Also, it's actually on the USDA nutritional value database, where it's carb content is 22g per cup. I'm not as familiar with granular sweet n low, but it should have a similar issue, as it's the filler used to make it a powder that brings the carbs. Sweet n Low is available in stores in liquid, which should solve that problem. There are also online sources for liquid Splenda, which you can find with a Google of this group. You could also send the folks at Splenda an email at their website telling them you want it in liquid form. So far, that hasn't done any good. It's a mystery as to why they don't want to offer it that way. The online sources essentially buy it in liquid agreeing to incorporate it into food products. They then add some minimal 0 carb ingredient and call it syrup base, etc, which they then sell. The other thing to consider is even if you use the granular in a recipe for some bulk food, the carb content per serving may still be low. If you used a cup and the recipe made 8 servings, it's only 3g per serving. |

Divide that out and you'll see why it is listed as zero. 6.6/16 = 0.4125 or 0.4. Since 0.4 is lower than a half, they are allowed to round it down. Lots of food listed as zero gets that way with rounding down. Eggs, coffee, you name it including cream. |
