Default 2nd WI :-(

Hi everybody, just got back from my 2nd WI, and a little disappointed, but
it was expected. I'm only down 0.5lbs this week... am suffering a head
cold, and was not up for much exercise all week, and didn't get to stay on
track as much as normal... so that's a total of 3lbs in 2weeks, think that's
good? I need to lose about 90-100lbs to be healthy and to be where i'd like
to be, any advice or thoughts on the best way, and how long you guys figure
it'd take to lose all that weight? I'm not trying to lose it fast, just
would like to be happy with myself. Thanks for the support.

An average of one to two pounds a week is perfect, and with a cold, you
can't expect a normal week. Look what happened to me! (Se my Yoyo thread)

A loss is a loss.. ) We all wanna loose 5 lbs a week.. but the body does
it's own thing.. to manage to loose while being sick is great !!!!!

Chin up.. suck that belly in.. straighten those shoulders.. pat yourself on
the back and look at the world in the eye.. you're doing fine !

Down is good especially when you've been sick. And 3lbs in 2 weeks is still
excellent progress.

What works for me, with a similar weight loss overall is I keep a food
diary - I weigh it, write it down & make a note of the points value. It
doesn't just tell me what I've eaten, but what I've got left to eat to be
healthy. I also make a concious effort to choose healthy choices - white
meat & fish over read meat, & I avoid cheese like the plague. Make sure you
drink enough - helps the food move through your system once you've eaten,
instead of it sitting inside and festering... Also - I've had to get my head
around *accepting* this is for the long haul.

Best of luck

And I forgot to put I attend meetings every week - helps keep the motivation
going - and I pick up tips form others there too, plus get *loads* of good
support from everyone.

Considering how sick you've been, Buttercup, I think that is a very nice
loss. Hope your cold disappears really fast so you can get back to work
on losing weight properly. Wish you luck.

Hey, don't worry about it. When you have an infection, you're body holds
on to extra fluids. Having you heard the medical advice to "drink plenty
of fluids"? It's designed to ameliorate that problem. Yet you *still*
managed to lose weight.

My suggestion is that you don't even look at that 90-100lbs to be
healthy. If you lose 10% of your starting weight, studies have shown
that makes a *significant* positive impact on your health. Rome wasn't
built in a day.

You should aim to lose (when fit and healthy) an average of 1-2lbs per
week, so 3lbs in 2 weeks is slap-bang in the middle of that goal.

It'll probably take you a while to lose all the weight you want to lose,
but along the journey, if you lose steadily, you will learn how to
*permanently* change your eating and exercise, so you don't put it all
back on again. Some of us do have a bit of a "rebound", but if you have
learned the skills, it's relatively simply to just hop back on and shift
the excess. I've put on a few pounds in the last two years, due to a lot
of stress, but I'm losing it again much easier than the first time
around, and the amount I need to cut back is significantly less.

In the meantime, you might be overweight, but if you're eating plenty of
fruit and veg, drinking sufficient water and increasing your activity,
you can rest assured you're in a lot better state of health than you
were just 2 weeks ago.

Well done, and keep going!
