Default another fix for the gadget junkie

Santa was very very good to me this year. I got a Garmin Forerunner 201
which is a small GPS receiver you wear on your wrist or arm while
running/walking/biking or anything outdoors really. It keeps time,
distance, lap time, pace, etc. You can put in points like the starting
point (I have my house programmed in already). You can set it to help you
train with a "virtual partner" which means I can tell it I want to run 5K in
29 minutes and it will give me a little runner guy on the screen that I can
keep pace with (or beat) and if I fall behind it will beep at me.

The good thing is that now I don't have to stay on marked trails when XC
skiing or snowshoeing and I can train for XC running this spring/summer
without getting too lost.

Sounds like a great little gadget. I'm getting an urge to go shopping after
hearing about all the neat toys Santa brought everyone this year g

Glad to see you back.

Happy New Year Jenn!

The GPS devices I've seen looked like they had to be "held" out in front
of you in some particular manner. I'm thrilled to hear of one that
straps on your wrist! You *know* I'm a gadget ho ;-)

I took it out for a walk the other day and it seems to work fine regardless
of where my arms were. Too bad it doesn't work indoors since I keep losing
count of my laps on the indoor track.

Depends on if we get enough snow to ski or snowshoe We're still in that
"in-between" where it's too icy to walk on the roads and not enough snow to
do anything useful. I'm headed out to get ice cleats soon so I can at least
walk across the lakes.
