Default a scale junkie trying to stop

Hi,my name is Jamie and I am a scale junkie. LOL But for real I am. Here
lately I have noticed I am weighing myself more and more. Almost to the
point of getting obsessed about it. Now that I am in sight of my goal those
1 and 2 pound fluctuations from morning to morning are starting to **** me
off. I have decided to keep the scales in the other bathroom that I never
go in. Thinking maybe that will detour me from weighing myself everything I
take a pee. Are there any other former scale junkies that have broke the
habit. If so tell me some pointers besides throwing it out. I paid to much
$$ for it and I'm a poor white boy. ~

LOL I just needed to vent. thanks!

Hi Jaime,

Once I had maintained 8 months, the scale stopped being my friend. Even
though maintenance is our ultimate destination, amazingly, seeing the
same number everyday was much less entertaining than the steady decline
of the past year. I cut back to twice a week. A short time later once a
week just seemed "right". Now I look forward to my Monday morning weigh
in and am almost never tempted otherwise. I wouldn't dream of checking
if it wasn't morning and I wasn't nekkid, anyway - too much trouble any
other time.

When it feels right, you'll give it up.

Alien, if you are like me, it will pass... go 3-4 pounds under goal
and you will take it more easily... people tend to get excited with
their new toys also... nothing wrong with that... just make sure that
your scale obsession doe snot interfere with your life.

i

LOL. You have to avoid that doe snot (my deer) at all costs! :-) Thanks
for the funny typo, ig

Default a scale junkie trying to stop

Hi Jamie,

I weigh myself usually once a day and sometimes even twice. Sometimes it
gets to me also because I can weigh myself one day and think great I've lost
all this weight, then the next day have three more pounds back on. One
thing I've noticed is this is normal for me since I sweat like a dog during
workouts I can lose three or four pound like there is nothing to it. Then
go drink several glasses of water, and I put on the weight I thought I lost.

The thing that keeps me from going over the edge is I'm losing weight
pretty steadily. I've lost about seventy-five pounds in five
months....that's fifteen pounds a month on average. Now I know as I get
closer to my goal of 175 that it's going to slow down so I'm preparing
myself for that to happen.

You may want to weigh yourself at the same time of day everyday instead of
different times to get a more realistic idea of your weightloss. If you can
do it you may want to try to weigh in once a week on the same day if you
just want to see the lost weight.

Hope this helps,

Paul

I am a complete scale junkie. When I see the scale I have a need to step

on
it. What worked for me was putting it away. I too have two bathrooms,

and
they both get used. So putting it in one or the other didn't work. So I
put it in a cupboard. Out of sight out of mind. It did work for a while,
but then I found I forgot to weight myself at all.

I do need to weigh myself to keep myself on track, either to know, okay
something isn't working, or for the encouragement, yes this is working

keep
going. But 3 times a day is just too much as I found out, too easy to get
caught up in daily fluctuations.

I keep our digital bathroom scales in the kitchen because our bathroom is
too small and wet to keep it in there. I tried putting it in the carpeted
bedroom on a concrete path block and that caused it not to weigh correctly.
Some of you may remember the "lose three pounds by moving the scales"
thread. I weigh some mornings (nekkid) and some mornings I decide to dress
first thing so I don't weigh myself. It's just me and DH living in our
house. I try to weigh at least three times a week so I can see the water
weight variations. The good thing about watching those is that it reminds me
to drink, drink, drink. I also record my food intake and the calorie count
in a spreadsheet more to make sure I fill my calorie allotment, than to make
sure I don't over-eat! I tend to fill up on vegetables and they don't have
a lot of calories. I never thought I'd have to make myself eat things with
more calories to stay above 1500 calories a day! A little bit of cheese and
a little bit of peanut or almond butter has fit in nicely with my WOE.

two suggestions:

1. throw out your scale

2. if you must weight yourself, do it daily, at the same time,
write it down, and then give yourself an average weight once weekly.

If you're standing on the scales munching on a goodie, bad. If you step off
the scales and wish all the food was in a dumpster on Mars, good.

I'm kind of a scale junkie but NOTHING like I was a while ago. I'm
better but I think I needed another compulsion to take the place of
eating . It does look good to see my new numbers I'm getting on my
scales in the morning plus at night. I guess that it shows me I'm in
control as couldn't face them a while ago.

You are doing well and your numbers show it.
